Windsock
A low-poly grass-strip windsock: a tapered steel mast on a concrete footing, with a swivel head carrying a hoop and a five-stripe orange-and-white sock, topped by an orange obstruction lamp. An 8-second seamless loop swings the sock round the mast and ripples it toward the tail.

Left rail: colours and the 4 knobs the agent wrote into this model — they rebuild the geometry and go into your download. Right rail: looks for the viewer. Drag to orbit, scroll to zoom.

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:
Windsock for the Airfield kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Airfield kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Small planes on a grass strip. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: grass green #3a883a, hangar white #f4f1ec, signal orange #ff851a, sky blue #2e67b8, grass green dark #235223, hangar white dark #d7cebc, grass green light #5db15d, hangar white light #f9f8f6, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `era` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Era" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: a 6.0 m steel mast (0.17 m at the base, 0.10 m at the head) on a 1.2 m octagonal concrete footing; the 3.6 m sock has a 0.9 m throat and five stripes; with the head lamp the model is 6.33 m tall. The origin is at the mast foot, which is the axis the sock swings round, so the footprint is off-centre toward the sock (about 3.9 m toward +X at rest). The model rests on y = 0, faces +Z, and the sock streams toward +X (slightly −Z). Animation clip 'scene-motion' (8 s, seamless): the swivel yaws up to ±19° on the mast axis, and stripes 2–5 are a chain of rigid pivots, each on the front ring of its stripe, carrying droop and side waves that travel to the tail. Each rear stripe tucks a 12 cm lip into the stripe ahead, so no gap opens when it bends. The cloth is rigid segments, not deforming. The footing, mast foot, mast and lamp never move. era (the kit's 'Era') switches at thresholds: below 0.3 a guyed timber pole with an orange ball finial; from 0.3 a galvanised steel tilt-down mast with an obstruction lamp; from 0.5 a small solar panel (sky blue). wind sets the rest droop (limp at 0, nearly straight at 1) and the flutter amplitude. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the geometry when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. three-check passes at both the default and the extreme setting (era 0, 4.5 m mast, 4.0 m sock, wind 0). The GLB has 788 triangles in 18 meshes. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour; grass greens, hangar white and warm white are not used. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so names repeat: recolour by name. glb-lint: 0 errors and 6 heuristic warnings, all expected. The material count and duplicates come from the per-part, per-colour meshes. The geometry is non-indexed on purpose so facets stay flat. The overlaps are nested parts. 'Detached' flags sock stripes 2–4, which hang in the pivot chain. The height warning compares against a 1 m reference. The verdict reads UNVERIFIED only because no requirements contract was supplied. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes.
About the Windsock 3D model
Windsock is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the Airfield set. It measures 4.1 m × 6.3 m × 2.6 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 788 triangles across 18 meshes, with 11 named parts and a baked animation (8.0 s). Download the 97 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.
- Is the Windsock 3D model free for commercial use?
- Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
- What file format is it, and how big is it?
- A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 97 KB: 788 triangles, 2,364 vertices and 18 materials, modelled in metres at 4.1 m × 6.3 m × 2.6 m.
- Is Windsock animated?
- Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (8.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
- Which engines and tools can open it?
- Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
- How was the Windsock 3D model made?
- Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
