Pixel Sprite is for small, palette-limited raster art where every pixel is placed on purpose: characters, creatures, items, icons, tiles, effects and UI pieces. The agent draws through pixel operations on an indexed document, not by writing image files, and you can fix anything by hand in the same editor.
It shipped in 1.15.0. HD illustration, vector art and skeletal rigs are out of scope; a pixel-style character sheet belongs in Character Design.
Options on Home
Pick Pixel Sprite and four chips appear beside the composer:
- Asset — Character, Icon or item, Tile, Effect, UI piece, or Large character or boss.
- Canvas — the allowed sizes for that asset, such as 16×16 for an icon, 32×32 for a character, or up to 256×256 for a boss.
- Palette — StoicSoft 16 (the default), StoicSoft 32, StoicSoft 64, Sweetie 16 by GrafxKid, Endesga 32 by Endesga, Resurrect 64 by Kerrie Lake, or Game Boy.
- Outline — Full dark, Selective, or None.
The pixel editor
The result opens in a built-in pixel editor with a timeline, onion skin, a 1× preview, layers, tags, slices and palette ramps, using Aseprite default keys. Your strokes and the agent's runs share one undo history, so you can paint a fix, ask for a change, and step back through both.
Prompt-first editing
Ask for a change and the agent draws it on a proposal layer. Accept it, reject it, or accept only a region. You can ask for:
- animation, directions, variants and states
- tilesets, cleanup or a match to an existing style
- several takes, compared side by side
Lock what must not change before you ask. To bring in existing art, import an
.aseprite file or a PNG and conform it to your palette.
Sprite checks
Sprite checks flag readability, silhouette, palette, outline, animation and export problems, and point at the pixels involved rather than the whole image. Export is blocked while an export check fails, so a sheet with the wrong palette never leaves the project by accident.
Exports
| Export | What you get |
|---|---|
| PNG | Indexed PNG |
| Sprite sheet | A sheet with Aseprite-compatible JSON |
| GIF, APNG, WebP | Animated previews, one per animation tag if you want |
| Godot | SpriteFrames for the Godot engine |
| Palette | .gpl or .hex |
| Tileset | A tileset with metadata |
| ZIP | The whole sprite project |
Good to know
- The bundled palettes credit their authors in the picker.
- The agent never hands back a finished PNG as the deliverable. The indexed document is the art, and every export is generated from it, so a palette change or a fixed pixel flows into every format at once.
