1DesignTool vs Framer

A hosted site builder with AI agents and a CMS, or a design studio whose output is code you can take anywhere.

Short answer

Choose Framer when the website is the product: hosting, CMS, localization and a visual canvas for hand-tuning, all in one place. Choose 1DesignTool when you want the site — and decks, brand, app screens or 3D — as files on your own machine that you can host anywhere.

  • Framer: browser and desktop, Basic $10/month and Pro $30/month per site, plus AI credits
  • 1DesignTool: desktop studio, $29 once
  • Both accept your own coding agent now — Framer through external agents, 1DesignTool natively
  • Framer hosts the site; 1DesignTool hands you the files

1DesignTool

1DesignTool is a local design studio. Its Interactive Website template — next to slides, UI, mobile, brand, 3D and diagrams — has your coding agent build the site in a folder on your machine, with a live preview, a gate that checks five widths, and variants compared blind. The result is plain files you can deploy wherever you like.

FAQ

Can I use Claude Code with both?

Yes. Framer's external agents let Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and others edit a Framer site without spending Framer credits. 1DesignTool is built around that model: it drives 16 coding-agent CLIs, Claude Code included.

Can I export a site from Framer?

Framer's help center says it does not export HTML for self-hosting, though third-party plugins exist. A 1DesignTool site is plain files in a folder from the start.
