1DesignTool vs Figma Make

Prompt-to-prototype inside Figma with shared AI credits, or a local studio where your own coding agent builds it.

Short answer

Choose Figma Make if your team already lives in Figma and wants prompt-to-prototype next to its libraries, with multiplayer and version history. Choose 1DesignTool if you want the coding agent you already pay for doing the work, locally, with no seats or credits — and designs beyond prototypes.

Figma Make

Figma Make is Figma's prompt-to-app tool, launched in May 2025. It builds functional prototypes and web apps in React and TypeScript, with an optional key-value backend, using a model you pick from Figma's list. Every Figma plan includes AI credits: Starter is free at 150 a day, Professional is $16 per full seat with 3,000 a month, and higher tiers add more. You can download the code, push it to GitHub, publish to the web, or copy designs back to Figma as layers.

1DesignTool

1DesignTool is a local design studio. Your own coding agent — Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and 13 more — builds prototypes, UI, sites, slides, brand kits, 3D and more in a folder on your Mac or Windows PC. You steer by pointing at the live preview, compare 2–4 variants blind, and every turn runs through a design-kit gate. It can adopt your repo and redesign it on its own branch.

FAQ

Is 1DesignTool a Figma Make alternative?

For prompt-to-prototype work, yes. Figma Make runs inside Figma on its hosted models with seat-based AI credits. 1DesignTool runs on your machine, uses the coding agent you already have, and costs $29 once.

Does 1DesignTool export to Figma?

Not fully. A Figma hand-off exists, but it currently stops before import, so don't plan around it. 1DesignTool's dependable outputs are files: HTML, PDF, PNG, SVG, GLB and ZIP, depending on the template.
