1DesignTool vs Claude Design
Anthropic's design agent inside your Claude plan, or a local studio any of 16 coding agents can drive — Claude Code included.
Short answer
Choose Claude Design if you live in Claude and want design with no setup, PPTX and Google Slides export, and one-click hand-offs to Canva, Vercel and others. They also work together: 1DesignTool imports Claude Design exports.

- 1DesignTool: $29 once, drives Claude Code and 15 other CLIs on your own plans

Claude Design
Claude Design is Anthropic's design agent. It launched in April 2026 as a Labs research preview and now runs inside ordinary Claude conversations, the Artifacts tab and Claude Code (/design). It is included in every Claude plan, including Free, and draws on the same usage limits as the rest of Claude. It makes prototypes, mockups, wireframes, one-pagers and decks, builds design systems from your repo, and exports to ZIP, PDF, PPTX, Google Slides and HTML.

1DesignTool is a local design studio that any of 16 coding-agent CLIs can drive — Claude Code is the most-tuned path, and Codex, Cursor, Devin and others work the same way. Projects are plain folders on your Mac or Windows PC, with a live preview, a design-kit gate, 2–4 variants compared blind and a snapshot every turn. It can import a Claude Design export as a reusable design system.

FAQ
Is 1DesignTool a Claude Design alternative?
Yes, and a companion. Both turn a brief into a design with an AI agent. Claude Design runs in your Claude account on Claude models; 1DesignTool runs on your machine and lets any of 16 coding agents, Claude Code included, do the work. 1DesignTool can also import a Claude Design export as a design system.
Do I need a Claude subscription for 1DesignTool?
No. You need one supported coding agent signed in — Claude Code, Codex, Cursor Agent, Antigravity, Qwen, Kimi, Devin and others. Whichever you use, it runs on that agent's own plan.
Can I move a Claude Design project into 1DesignTool?
Yes. Export from Claude Design, then point 1DesignTool's Systems screen at the export; it becomes a design system you can apply to any new project.
