1DesignTool vs Google Stitch
Google's free Gemini canvas for UI screens, or a local studio where your own coding agent designs far more than screens.
Short answer
Choose Stitch for free, fast exploration of app and web screens on Gemini, with a clean path into AI Studio, Antigravity and Netlify. Choose 1DesignTool when you want your own coding agent building the design as a project on your machine, beyond screens — decks, brand, 3D, diagrams — and inside your existing repo.
- Stitch: free Google Labs experiment in the browser, Gemini models
- 1DesignTool: desktop studio, real free tier, Pro $29 once, 16 coding agents
- Stitch makes UI screens and clickable prototypes; 1DesignTool adds slides, brand, 3D, diagrams and documents
- Stitch reads a codebase as context; 1DesignTool edits your repo on its own branch
Google Stitch
Stitch is a Google Labs experiment for designing UI. It launched in May 2025 on Gemini 2.5 Pro and was relaunched in March 2026 as an AI-native canvas, with real-time voice added in May 2026. It makes mobile, tablet and desktop screens and multi-screen clickable prototypes from text, voice, images or code, can extract a design system from any URL into a DESIGN.md file, and exports front-end code, to AI Studio and Antigravity, or publishes via Netlify. It is free.

1DesignTool is a local design studio that your own coding agent drives — Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity and 13 more. UI mockup, wireframe, mobile app and website templates sit next to slides, brand, 3D, diagrams and documents. Everything is a plain folder on your Mac or Windows PC with a live preview, a five-width quality gate and blind variant compare, and it can adopt your repo and redesign it on a branch.

FAQ
Is Google Stitch free?
Google has not announced a paid plan for Stitch; it is a free Google Labs experiment. Its usage limits have changed over time, so check Stitch itself for the current allowance.
Can 1DesignTool use Gemini like Stitch?
1DesignTool drives coding-agent CLIs rather than calling a model directly. Antigravity, Google's agent, is one of the 16 it supports, alongside Claude Code, Codex, Cursor Agent and others.
What does 1DesignTool do that Stitch doesn't?
It runs locally as a desktop app, lets you choose the agent, designs well beyond UI screens — slides, brand, 3D, CAD parts, diagrams, maps, résumés — and can redesign an existing codebase on its own branch.
