Scrap walls

A low-poly modular scrap wall for a wasteland fort: mismatched corrugated sheets with torn tops on steel posts, crowned with a row of sharpened stakes, braced from behind and patched up with plates, a nailed plank and a stack of old tyres. Four metres long and snaps on a 1 m grid.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Scrap walls for the Wasteland Outpost kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It is a modular piece that snaps on a 1 m grid: give it a length in whole metres and put the origin at its snapping end, stated in meta.notes. This is one part of the Wasteland Outpost kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A scrap fort in a dead land. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: dust brown #6b4a2e, rust #9b4427, faded yellow #dbc970, grey #757e8a, dust brown dark #362517, rust dark #5e2917, dust brown light #9b704b, rust light #c96645, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `decayLevel` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Decay level" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size at defaults: 4.00 m long (x 0 to 4), 3.07 m tall to the stake tips (sheets about 2.2-2.4 m), 1.69 m deep including the back braces (z -0.82) and the tyre stack (z +0.87). Modular: length is whole metres on a 1 m grid; the origin is at the snapping end (left, -X), bottom, on the wall plane, and the wall runs along +X to exactly x = length, front facing +Z. End posts are inset 0.15 m so chained sections stand their posts side by side. Everything rests on y = 0. 1672 triangles, static, no animation clip. Every material is named after its kit palette colour; the exporter writes one material per mesh, so a name can appear more than once; recolour by name. Grey and faded yellow are in the sheet colour mix but don't appear at the default seed and length. The GLB is baked at default params: decayLevel tears the sheet tops, peels the front sheets outward, shifts the sheet mix toward rust and adds patch plates; length, height and stakeLength rebuild the geometry in the viewer only. glb-lint: 0 errors and 5 heuristic warnings: 13 materials vs the direction default of 10, duplicate-named materials, non-indexed flat-shaded geometry, height above the direction's 1 m reference, and rails/patches/plank/stakes flagged as detached even though each is seated 1-2 mm into the posts, sheets or beam it fixes to. Plan-check flags the hyphenated library part ids, which the kit's plan validator does not accept; three-check and the GLB carry them correctly.

About the Scrap walls 3D model

Scrap walls is a free low-poly 3D model from the Wasteland Outpost set. It measures 4.0 m × 3.1 m × 1.7 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 1,672 triangles across 13 meshes, with 14 named parts. Download the 172 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Scrap walls 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 172 KB: 1,672 triangles, 5,004 vertices and 13 materials, modelled in metres at 4.0 m × 3.1 m × 1.7 m.
Can I animate Scrap walls?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 14 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Scrap walls 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
