Armoured buggy

A low-poly scrap-built armoured buggy with bolted rusty side plates, a spiked ram, an open roll cage with a roof searchlight, a rear engine with twin exhaust stacks, and four lugged off-road wheels. In a seamless 6-second loop its wheels roll, the front wheels steer, the searchlight sweeps, the exhaust caps flap and the antenna sways.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Armoured buggy for the Wasteland Outpost kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Wasteland Outpost kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A scrap fort in a dead land. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: dust brown #6b4a2e, rust #9b4427, faded yellow #dbc970, grey #757e8a, dust brown dark #362517, rust dark #5e2917, dust brown light #9b704b, rust light #c96645, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `decayLevel` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Decay level" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: about 4.3 m long (ram spikes to spare tyre), 2.4 m wide across the fenders and 2.5 m tall to the top of the searchlight, on a 2.5 m wheelbase with 1.0 m wheels. Origin is at the bottom centre, the tyre lugs rest on y = 0, and the ram faces +Z. The exported model has 3,368 triangles. Every material is named after its kit palette colour, and all 12 colours are used. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so the same colour name appears on several materials: recolour by name. The baked clip scene-motion (6 s, seamless) moves only hinged parts on their own pivots: the wheels on their axles (three whole turns), the front knuckles on kingpins through the wheel centres, the searchlight on its post swivel, the exhaust rain caps on their rear hinge edges and the antenna at its base. The tub never moves. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the geometry when the scene is rebuilt. decayLevel (kit 'Decay level') leans plates out on their bottom edges, drops some of them (never a whole side), mismatches plate colours, adds weld patches, bends the ram and lifts the roof sheet. The same value always builds the same buggy. glb-lint: 0 errors and 6 heuristic warnings: material count above the direction default (per-mesh materials), duplicate same-colour materials, non-indexed flat-shaded geometry, intended overlaps where plates, bars and spikes are welded into the tub, cage and seats flagged as detached because they sit on the tub from another group, and height against the direction's 1 m reference. Its verdict line reads UNVERIFIED only because no host requirements contract was supplied. plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens in the slug-based ids this library requires. three-check accepts those ids, and all 21 survive the GLB reload.

About the Armoured buggy 3D model

Armoured buggy is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the Wasteland Outpost set. It measures 2.5 m × 2.5 m × 4.3 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 3,368 triangles across 49 meshes, with 21 named parts and a baked animation (6.0 s). Download the 409 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Armoured buggy 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 409 KB: 3,368 triangles, 9,444 vertices and 49 materials, modelled in metres at 2.5 m × 2.5 m × 4.3 m.
Is Armoured buggy animated?
Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (6.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Armoured buggy 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
