Shopfronts

A low-poly Victorian shopping parade: three painted timber shopfronts with big display windows, recessed doors and striped canvas awnings, set in a three-storey brick building with sash windows, a parapet, a slate roof and chimney stacks. Brass gas lanterns on brackets hang between the shops.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Shopfronts for the Victorian Street kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Victorian Street kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Gaslight, soot and shop windows. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: brick red #c32222, soot black #151619, bottle green #3a883a, brass #b28c34, brick red dark #821717, soot black dark #090a0b, brick red light #db5757, soot black light #3a3c40, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `fogLevel` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Fog level" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 16.8 m wide (x), 11.1 m deep (z, including the awnings and back eaves) and 14.92 m tall to the chimney pots (default params). Each shop is 5.5 m wide. The shop storey is 4.5 m with the fascia at 3.45–4.17 m, the upper storeys are 3.0 m, the eaves sit at 10.5 m behind a 0.9 m parapet, and the 30° slate roof peaks at about 13.1 m. The awnings slope out 1.3 m at 20° and their valances clear the pavement at about 2.7 m. The shopfronts face +Z, the origin is at the bottom centre of the footprint and the model rests on y = 0. The GLB has 5,912 triangles in 34 meshes (merged per part and colour) and no animation clip. With every param at its maximum (4 shops, 3 storeys, 2.2 m awnings) it is 9,004 triangles; at the minimum (1 shop, 1 storey) it is 1,984. Normals are baked flat (non-indexed), so the facets survive in any engine. Every material is named exactly after its kit palette colour, and all 11 kit colours are used. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so the same colour name appears on several materials: recolour by name. There is no signwriting, text or goods in the windows: fascias are plain painted boards and the glass is opaque soot black dark. The lantern glass is plain warm white, not emissive. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change geometry when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. fogLevel (the kit's 'Fog level') is treated as the soot the fog leaves behind. As it rises, more bays switch from brick red to sooted brick red dark (the middle bay at the default 0.5), and the soot band on the chimney tops grows from 0.15 to 0.7 m. The fog itself belongs to the viewer or street scene, not this model. glb-lint: 0 errors and 6 heuristic warnings: material count and duplicate materials (from the per-mesh materials), unindexed geometry (flat shading on purpose), sibling overlap (trims, bands and windows embedded in walls on purpose), a 'detached' lantern-bracket mesh (its arms are embedded in the front wall, which sits in a different part) and scale (compared with the direction's 1 m reference). plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens this library's slug-based ids need. The same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check accepts those ids, and all 8 survive the GLB reload.

About the Shopfronts 3D model

Shopfronts is a free low-poly 3D model from the Victorian Street set. It measures 17 m × 15 m × 11 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 5,912 triangles across 34 meshes, with 8 named parts. Download the 443 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Shopfronts 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 443 KB: 5,912 triangles, 17,736 vertices and 34 materials, modelled in metres at 17 m × 15 m × 11 m.
Can I animate Shopfronts?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 8 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Shopfronts 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
