Post box

A low-poly Victorian hexagonal pillar post box in brick red: a soot-black plinth, a six-sided shaft with a hinged door and brass lock plate, a hooded letter slot, an overhanging cornice and a low domed cap crowned by an acanthus-bud finial.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Post box for the Victorian Street kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Victorian Street kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Gaslight, soot and shop windows. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: brick red #c32222, soot black #151619, bottle green #3a883a, brass #b28c34, brick red dark #821717, soot black dark #090a0b, brick red light #db5757, soot black light #3a3c40, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `fogLevel` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Fog level" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size (default params): 1.63 m tall to the finial tip, 0.72 m across the cornice flats (z) and 0.83 m across its corners (x); the plinth is 0.68 m across the flats and the shaft 0.54 m. Front (door and letter slot) faces +Z, origin at the bottom centre, resting on y = 0. The GLB has 676 triangles in 16 meshes (merged per part and colour) and no animation clip. Normals are baked flat (non-indexed). Every material is named exactly after its kit palette colour (7 of the 11 kit colours are used); the exporter writes one material per mesh, so a colour name can appear on more than one material — recolour by name. The door is its own node pivoted on its left hinge, so it can be swung open in an engine by rotating it about Y. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change geometry when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer; earlyGreen = 1 repaints it in bottle green (the 1859–74 livery) with soot-grey mouldings. fogLevel (the kit's 'Fog level') is the soot the fog leaves behind: a dark grime band climbs the foot of the shaft from 2 to 22 cm; the fog itself belongs to the street scene. No text, cipher or logos. glb-lint: 0 errors, 4 heuristic warnings (material count/duplicates from per-mesh materials, unindexed flat-shaded geometry, intended nesting of bands and panels). plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphenated slug ids this library requires; the same plan de-hyphenated passes, and three-check accepts the ids and all 7 survive the GLB reload.

About the Post box 3D model

Post box is a free low-poly 3D model from the Victorian Street set. It measures 83 cm × 1.6 m × 72 cm (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 676 triangles across 16 meshes, with 7 named parts. Download the 61 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Post box 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 61 KB: 676 triangles, 2,028 vertices and 16 materials, modelled in metres at 83 cm × 1.6 m × 72 cm.
Can I animate Post box?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 7 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Post box 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
