Hansom cab
A low-poly Victorian hansom cab: a bottle-green body with brass lining slung between two tall brick-red spoked wheels, folding half-doors across the open front, the driver's seat perched high behind the roof, brass carriage lamps and long dark-wood shafts on a rest. It has a seamless 8 s loop: the wheels turn once, the half-doors swing open and shut, and the roof trap lifts.

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:
Hansom cab for the Victorian Street kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Victorian Street kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Gaslight, soot and shop windows. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: brick red #c32222, soot black #151619, bottle green #3a883a, brass #b28c34, brick red dark #821717, soot black dark #090a0b, brick red light #db5757, soot black light #3a3c40, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `fogLevel` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Fog level" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size (default params): 4.22 m long from the driver's seat rail to the shaft tips, 2.18 m wide across the hub caps (the body is 1.24 m wide), 2.56 m tall to the driver's seat rail; the wheels are 1.6 m across and the roof is at 1.99 m. Origin at the bottom centre, resting on y = 0 on both tyres and the two shaft-rest feet; shafts and doors face +Z. No horse is included — the shaft rest holds the shafts level at horse height (1.0 m at the tips), and you can delete it if you hitch a horse. The GLB has 2,840 triangles in 36 meshes (merged per part and colour, flat normals baked, non-indexed); 16 spokes adds under 100. One clip, 'scene-motion', 8 s seamless loop: both wheels make one whole turn about the axle (the cab itself never moves, so translate the root in your engine if you want it to travel), the half-doors swing open about their outer hinge posts and close again, and the roof trap lifts about its rear hinge. Each moving part's node sits exactly at its pivot. At rest a tyre vertex touches y = 0, so while the wheels turn the tyre may float up to 7 mm, but it never sinks below the ground. Every material is named exactly after its kit palette colour (10 of the 11 kit colours; brick red light is not used). The exporter writes one material per mesh, so a colour name appears on several materials: recolour by name. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the model when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer; doorSwing is read live by the animation. fogLevel (the kit's 'Fog level') sets how foggy the night is: the lamp lenses grow from 5 to 9 cm and the road-soot band along the foot of the body rises from 4 to 16 cm. The lenses are plain warm white, not emissive, so add point lights in your engine if you want a glow. glb-lint: 0 errors and 6 heuristic warnings: material count and duplicates from the per-mesh materials, unindexed geometry (deliberate flat shading), intended nesting of lining, windows and cushions, the roof trap flagged 'detached' (it is its own animated part resting on the roof coaming), and height against the direction's generic 1 m reference. The verdict reads UNVERIFIED only because no host requirements contract was supplied. plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphenated slug ids this library requires; the same plan de-hyphenated passes. three-check accepts the ids, and all 12 survive the GLB reload.
About the Hansom cab 3D model
Hansom cab is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the Victorian Street set. It measures 2.2 m × 2.6 m × 4.2 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,840 triangles across 36 meshes, with 12 named parts and a baked animation (8.0 s). Download the 260 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.
- Is the Hansom cab 3D model free for commercial use?
- Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
- What file format is it, and how big is it?
- A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 260 KB: 2,840 triangles, 8,520 vertices and 36 materials, modelled in metres at 2.2 m × 2.6 m × 4.2 m.
- Is Hansom cab animated?
- Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (8.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
- Which engines and tools can open it?
- Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
- How was the Hansom cab 3D model made?
- Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
