Factory chimney

A low-poly free-standing Victorian mill chimney, 30 m tall: a square brick pedestal with blind arched panels and a green iron cleaning door, a tapering octagonal brick shaft with pale polychrome bands, and a soot-blackened corbelled crown with an open flue and a brass lightning conductor.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Factory chimney for the Victorian Street kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Victorian Street kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Gaslight, soot and shop windows. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: brick red #c32222, soot black #151619, bottle green #3a883a, brass #b28c34, brick red dark #821717, soot black dark #090a0b, brick red light #db5757, soot black light #3a3c40, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `fogLevel` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Fog level" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 30 m to the top of the crown (31.6 m to the conductor tip), 5.2 m square at the stone plinth (5.65 m deep including the door step). The pedestal is 4.6 m square and 6 m tall; the octagonal shaft tapers from 3.3 m across the flats at its foot to 2.1 m under the crown, and the corbelled crown oversails to about 3.2 m. The door faces +Z, +Y is up and the model rests on y = 0. The origin is the centre of the footprint bounding box, so the shaft axis sits 0.23 m behind it (the door step adds depth at the front). The GLB has 1,588 triangles in 28 meshes (merged per part and colour) and no animation clip; at every param's maximum it stays under 3,000. Normals are baked flat (non-indexed), so the facets survive in any engine. Every material is named exactly after its kit palette colour (10 of the 11 kit colours; dark wood is not used). The exporter writes one material per mesh, so the same colour name appears on several materials: recolour by name. No smoke plume, text or textures. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change geometry when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. fogLevel (the kit's 'Fog level') is the soot the smoke and fog leave: it sets how far the black staining runs down from the crown (1.2 m at 0 to 10.2 m at 1, 5.7 m at the default), with a dark-brick fringe below it; below about 0.02 the crown also turns back to clean brick and a stone cap. The fog itself belongs to the street scene. height (20–40 m) scales the shaft, shaftSides gives a square, hexagonal or octagonal shaft, and bandCount sets 0–4 polychrome bands. glb-lint: 0 errors and 6 heuristic warnings: material count and duplicate materials (per-mesh materials), unindexed geometry (flat shading on purpose), sibling overlap (panels and courses embedded in the brick on purpose), detached parts (the shaft's soot colour segments only meet their neighbours edge to edge) and scale (compared with the direction's 1 m reference). plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens this library's slug-based ids need; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check accepts those ids and all 7 survive the GLB reload.

About the Factory chimney 3D model

Factory chimney is a free low-poly 3D model from the Victorian Street set. It measures 5.2 m × 32 m × 5.7 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 1,588 triangles across 28 meshes, with 7 named parts. Download the 135 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Factory chimney 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 135 KB: 1,588 triangles, 4,764 vertices and 28 materials, modelled in metres at 5.2 m × 32 m × 5.7 m.
Can I animate Factory chimney?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 7 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Factory chimney 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
