Rock shelf

A low-poly sea-floor rock shelf: stratified grey and deep-blue rock terraces under a thick overhanging ledge, grown over with aqua branch corals, yellow tube sponges, blue sea fans and a starfish, with loose boulders at its foot and a yellow survey marker lamp on top.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Rock shelf for the Underwater Research Dome kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Underwater Research Dome kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A science base on the sea floor. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: deep blue #1b447e, aqua #47d1d1, yellow #eecd2b, white #f4f1ec, deep blue dark #0d223f, aqua dark #29a3a3, deep blue light #2e67b8, aqua light #88dddd, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `depthAndLight` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Depth and light" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Real-world size at default settings: 5.1 m wide (x, including the foot boulders; the rock mass itself is about 4.1 m), 3.26 m deep (z) and 3.04 m tall to the top of the survey-marker lamp. The ledge top is 1.9 m above the sea floor and the tallest crag peaks at about 2.9 m. The ledge overhangs the terrace below by 0.65 m toward the front (+Z). Origin is at the bottom centre; the base stratum's flat underside and the boulders' lowest points sit exactly on y = 0. Part ids use the root 'rockshelf' because the kit's part-id grammar does not allow hyphens. Corals are dropped onto the real rock surface by raycast, and any site that misses its terrace is skipped rather than left floating. coralCount plants growth sites in a fixed priority order, and at 0 the 'rockshelf.corals' part is left out entirely. depthAndLight only raises the emissive glow of the aqua branch corals and the marker lamp (exported as emissiveFactor). It does not change geometry. Static asset: the GLB has no animation clips. 2,324 triangles at default settings, well under the 10,000 budget at every param value. The GLB has 17 material entries because the runtime exporter clones one material per mesh, but they cover only 9 palette colours and each carries its exact palette name. The palette's white, aqua light and dark wood are not used. glb-lint returned 0 errors. Its overall verdict is UNVERIFIED only because no requirements contract was supplied. Its warnings are heuristic only: the per-mesh material clones, intended overlap of the embedded corals and boulders, the ledge, crags and starfish flagged as 'not touching' because they are set into the rock below rather than reaching the ground, unindexed flat-shaded geometry, and a scale note because this is a 3 m object.
