Glass domes

A low-poly sea-floor habitat cluster: a big faceted glass observation dome ribbed in deep blue on a white porthole drum, linked by pressure tunnels to smaller satellite glass domes, with a front airlock, a yellow crown beacon and lit lab decks visible through the glass.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Glass domes for the Underwater Research Dome kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Underwater Research Dome kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A science base on the sea floor. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: deep blue #1b447e, aqua #47d1d1, yellow #eecd2b, white #f4f1ec, deep blue dark #0d223f, aqua dark #29a3a3, deep blue light #2e67b8, aqua light #88dddd, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `depthAndLight` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Depth and light" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Real-world size: 5.30 m tall to the beacon tip, 12.9 m wide (x) and 9.5 m deep (z) at default. The main glass dome is 5.6 m across (glass base 1.54 m above the sea floor); the satellite domes are 52% of its size. The origin is at the base centre of the main dome. The cluster isn't centred on it in depth: the satellites sit behind, the airlock faces +Z. Part ids carry the sanitized slug 'underwaterresearchdomeglassdomes' (the plan validator's id grammar disallows hyphens). The glass is the 'aqua light' material: alpha-blended, depthWrite off, flat-shaded, with real wall thickness, so it needs no double-sided rendering. depthAndLight sets the glass opacity (0.30–0.55) and the emissive glow of every 'yellow' surface (interior lamps, beacon, hatch rim). Both are baked into the GLB materials at the chosen value. frameRibs changes only the main dome's ribs and facet count; the satellite domes keep a fixed 6-rib frame. Triangles: 6,736 at default and 8,764 at the heaviest setting (3 satellites, 10 ribs). Static asset: the GLB contains no animation clips. glb-lint reported no errors. Its heuristic warnings are: per-mesh material clones from the runtime's export (12 palette names, 26 slots); drum, glass, frame, interior and beacon flagged as 'not touching' because they sit embedded in the plinth-and-drum stack rather than reaching the ground themselves; and the 5.3 m height against a normalized ~1 m expectation, which is the model's real scale.
