Flint tools

A low-poly Stone Age flint knapper's set laid out on a hide work mat: a hafted flint axe with ochre lashing, a teardrop hand axe, a hafted knife, a scraper, a flint core with pale cortex, a hammerstone, an antler billet and struck flakes.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Flint tools for the Stone Age Camp kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Stone Age Camp kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Hide tents at the edge of the ice. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: hide tan #bf9769, ochre #bd8728, charcoal #34383d, moss #55743e, hide tan dark #9a7142, ochre dark #7e5a1b, hide tan light #d2bca2, ochre light #d6a95c, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `climateIceOrForest` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Climate (ice or forest)" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size at defaults: 0.90 m × 0.64 m footprint and 0.08 m tall (the flint core is the highest point). Real-world tool sizes: hand axe 20 cm, hafted axe 42 cm haft with an 18 cm head, knife 26 cm, scraper 7.5 cm. Origin is the bottom centre on y = 0, front towards +Z. Every tool rests on the mat's top face 14 mm above the ground. The GLB has 1,184 triangles in 24 meshes (merged per part and colour), flat normals baked, and no animation clip. Every material is named exactly after its kit palette colour; 10 of the 12 kit colours are used (ochre light and soot black are not). The exporter writes one material per mesh, so one colour name appears on several materials; recolour by name. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change geometry when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. haftLength stretches the axe handle, flakeCount sets how many struck flakes lie round the core, and matSize scales the hide mat and spreads the tool layout (the tools keep their real size). climateIceOrForest (the kit's 'Climate (ice or forest)') turns the eight tufts round the mat from snow drifts (0) to moss (1); at 0.5 it shows half of each. It never moves the tools. glb-lint: 0 errors. Its warnings are expected: duplicate per-mesh materials, 24 materials > 10, nested parts reported as overlapping, the hammerstone and billet reported as 'detached' because they rest on the mat rather than y = 0, and a scale check against a 1 m reference that this hand-tool prop is meant to fail. plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens in the slug-based ids this library requires. The same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes, and three-check accepts the ids. Fix rounds (visual): 1, the mat was shrunk, the blades flattened and the tools laid out on a planned grid with seeded flake placement kept on the mat and clear of the other tools (the first pass had flakes hanging off the mat edge and outsized snow lumps); 2, the axe's cross-binding was toned down to ochre dark, the snow flattened and the views tightened.

About the Flint tools 3D model

Flint tools is a free low-poly 3D model from the Stone Age Camp set. It measures 90 cm × 8 cm × 64 cm (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 1,184 triangles across 24 meshes, with 10 named parts. Download the 98 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Flint tools 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 98 KB: 1,184 triangles, 2,748 vertices and 24 materials, modelled in metres at 90 cm × 8 cm × 64 cm.
Can I animate Flint tools?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 10 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Flint tools 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
