Space Shuttle Stack

The Space Shuttle launch stack on its mobile launcher platform: a winged orbiter with an individually modelled black tile underside, payload bay door seams and three main engines, riding on the orange external tank between two segmented solid rocket boosters. The platform has exhaust pits, hold-down posts, railing, rainbird nozzles and two tail service masts.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

A space shuttle stack on its mobile launcher: orbiter with tiled underside (individual tile grid), payload bay door lines, main engines with nozzles, the orange external tank with foam ribs and feed lines, two solid rocket boosters with segment joints and nozzles, attach struts, and the launch platform with tail service masts.

Note: 169,958 triangles in 43 indexed meshes (one per part per material role), 4.8 MB GLB, static with no animation clip. Real-world scale: the stack stands 62.6 m tall on a 49 × 41 m platform. The orbiter's back faces +Z, so its tiled belly faces the tank. You see the tiles from the side, back and below, and in the gap between orbiter and tank. About 1,500 tiles are modelled one by one as chamfered blocks; at the swept leading edges they are clipped to the wing outline. The params change the geometry when the model is rebuilt; the GLB is the default setup. Both extremes were checked and pass, with the smallest tiles reaching 177.8k triangles. There is no lettering, flag or logo anywhere. glb-lint shows 0 errors. Its verdict reads UNVERIFIED only because no requirements contract is supplied. Its warnings are heuristics: the direction's stock 80k budget (raised to 180k in the plan for Hero Props), a scale guess based on a 0.5 m reference height, and nested or embedded parts (tiles, mast panels). plan-check's part-id regex rejects hyphenated slugs, so the plan was verified on a de-hyphenated copy.

About the Space Shuttle Stack 3D model

Space Shuttle Stack is a free technical 3D model from the Hero Props set. It measures 50 m × 63 m × 42 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 169,958 triangles across 43 meshes, with 16 named parts. Download the 4.3 MB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Space Shuttle Stack 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 4.3 MB: 169,958 triangles, 143,424 vertices and 43 materials, modelled in metres at 50 m × 63 m × 42 m.
Can I animate Space Shuttle Stack?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 16 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Space Shuttle Stack 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
