Scroll racks
A low-poly Roman library scroll rack (armarium): a dark-wood cabinet of square pigeonholes stacked with papyrus scrolls, with bronze knobs and red title tags, under a pediment with a red tympanum. A leather scroll bucket stands beside it, and a few fallen scrolls lie at its foot.

Left rail: colours and the 3 knobs the agent wrote into this model — they rebuild the geometry and go into your download. Right rail: looks for the viewer. Drag to orbit, scroll to zoom.

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:
Scroll racks for the Roman Forum kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Roman Forum kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): The civic heart of an imperial city. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: marble white #f4f1ec, terracotta #be5937, imperial red #c32222, bronze #916430, marble white dark #d7cebc, terracotta dark #823d26, marble white light #f9f8f6, terracotta light #d08971, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `intactOrRuined` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Intact or ruined" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: the cabinet is 1.51 m wide (1.61 m at the cornice), 0.44 m deep (0.5 m at the cornice) and 1.89 m tall to the apex acroterion. Its 4 × 5 cubbies are each 0.34 × 0.24 m and hold up to five 0.38 m scrolls. The capsa (0.3 m across, 0.4 m tall) stands to the west (−X), so the model's bounds run from x −1.21 to +0.81 m and z −0.27 to +0.76 m. The origin is at the bottom centre of the cabinet, not of the whole footprint; the feet rest on y = 0 and the open front faces +Z. The GLB has 4,008 triangles in 22 meshes and is static, with no animation clip; three-check's higher triangle figure includes the viewer's staging ground, which is not exported. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour (8 of the 12 are used). The exporter writes one material per mesh, so a colour name can repeat; recolour by name. intactOrRuined (kit 'Intact or ruined'): at 0 every cubby is full and nothing lies on the floor. As it rises, a seeded share of the scrolls (up to 45%, top layers and the east side first) leaves the shelves, and up to five of them lie on the paving in front, with one half unrolled. From 0.7 the east end of the cornice moulding and its acroterion break off and lie at the rack's east foot. At exactly 0 the fallen_scrolls part is empty, so it is not registered. columns (2–5) and rows (3–5) rebuild the cabinet; at 5 × 5 with intactOrRuined 0 (every cubby full) the count is estimated at about 6,000 triangles, which was not rendered or measured. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change geometry when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. Only the default was rendered and checked; the extremes were not. glb-lint: 0 errors. Its warnings are expected: duplicate same-named materials and a material count over 10 (both from per-mesh export), deliberately non-indexed flat facets, nested parts, and the shelves group flagged as 'detached' because it touches the frame, which is a different part group. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes, and three-check and the GLB reload keep every id. In the viewer, the back face shows faint diagonal shadow-map artefacts from the staging light; they are not part of the geometry.
About the Scroll racks 3D model
Scroll racks is a free low-poly 3D model from the Roman Forum set. It measures 2.0 m × 1.9 m × 1.0 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 4,008 triangles across 22 meshes, with 8 named parts. Download the 301 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.
- Is the Scroll racks 3D model free for commercial use?
- Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
- What file format is it, and how big is it?
- A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 301 KB: 4,008 triangles, 12,024 vertices and 22 materials, modelled in metres at 2.0 m × 1.9 m × 1.0 m.
- Can I animate Scroll racks?
- It ships as a static mesh. Its 8 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
- Which engines and tools can open it?
- Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
- How was the Scroll racks 3D model made?
- Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
