Fuel depot

A 29 m low-poly orbital propellant depot under construction: capsule fuel tanks in bays of four around a lattice truss spine, with a docking module and refuelling boom at one end and a solar-winged service module at the other. The half-built bays show bare tanks and empty orange tank frames, and the whole depot sits in a low mooring cradle.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Fuel depot for the Orbital Shipyard kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Orbital Shipyard kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Ships under construction in open space. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: white #f4f1ec, orange #ed7e1d, deep space blue #1b447e, silver #b9bfc6, white dark #d7cebc, orange dark #af590e, white light #f9f8f6, orange light #eea668, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `shipCompletionStage` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Ship completion stage" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Physical size at default params: 29.2 m long (X), 8.33 m tall including the 0.4 m cradle sled, 16.6 m deep across the solar wings (Z). The tanks are 3 m across and 6 m long. Origin is at the bottom centre, resting on y = 0. The front (+Z) sees the depot broadside, with the docking port at +X and the service module and engine bell at -X. shipCompletionStage fills the 12 tank slots bay by bay from the docking end: round(stage x 12) clad white tanks with orange bands, then 2 bare silver tanks with grey weld seams, then empty orange ring frames with silver stringers. So 0 means 2 bare tanks and 10 empty frames, and 1 means all 12 tanks clad. Every slot always keeps its saddles and either a tank or a frame, so nothing floats at any stage. tankBays (2-4) also changes the overall length. Static model with no animation clip. The cradle sled and pylons give the depot its ground contact; delete the cradle node if you want a free-floating depot. Each part node carries two part ids: the library id (orbital-shipyard-fuel-depot.*) on the outer group and the plan id (fueldepot.*) on the inner one. Material names are the exact kit palette names (9 colours used). The exporter writes one material copy per mesh, so the GLB lists 26 materials with repeated names. Facets are non-indexed with baked flat normals, so the model looks faceted in any engine. 4400 triangles. glb-lint: 0 errors and 6 non-blocking heuristic warnings (the per-mesh material copies and duplicates, intentionally non-indexed flat facets, nested parts overlapping, spine and tank sub-parts flagged as detached because they touch their neighbours only through other parts, and height compared against a 1 m reference).
