Dry dock frame

A 4 x 4 m low-poly dry dock bay tile for an orbital shipyard: two orange gantry portals with runway beams and a hoist straddle a small-craft hull section resting on wood-capped keel blocks, its plating half closed over grey ribs. Rails, runway beams and deck seams run edge to edge so tiles chain into a long dock.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Dry dock frame for the Orbital Shipyard kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. Make it a ground piece on an exact 4 × 4 m footprint with flat edges at y = 0 that tile seamlessly with its neighbours in every direction; origin at the tile centre. This is one part of the Orbital Shipyard kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Ships under construction in open space. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: white #f4f1ec, orange #ed7e1d, deep space blue #1b447e, silver #b9bfc6, white dark #d7cebc, orange dark #af590e, white light #f9f8f6, orange light #eea668, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `shipCompletionStage` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Ship completion stage" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Physical size: 4 x 4 m footprint, 4.02 m tall at the default gantry height (3.62-4.62 m across the gantryHeight range); the hull section is 2.08 m wide, 1.86 m tall and 3.2 m long. Origin is at the tile centre, resting on y = 0, front faces +Z. Deck edges are flat and vertical; rails, runway beams and deck-plate seams meet the Z edges at the same positions on every copy, and portals sit at z = +/-1 so chained tiles keep a 2 m portal pitch. Only the deck reaches the X edges. shipCompletionStage closes the hull plating keel-up and stern-to-bow (0 = bare ribs, 1 = fully plated); the hull ends stay open. Static model, no animation clip. Each node carries two part ids: the library id (orbital-shipyard-dry-dock-frame.*) on the outer group and the plan id (drydock.*) on the inner one. Material names are the exact kit palette names (10 colours); the exporter writes one material copy per mesh, so the GLB lists 17 materials with repeated names. glb-lint: 0 errors, 6 non-blocking heuristic warnings (material count/duplicates from that per-mesh copy, intentional non-indexed flat-shaded facets, nested gantry meshes, wrapper groups flagged as detached, and height vs a 1 m reference).
