Lanterns

A low-poly Lunar New Year lantern frame: three round red lanterns with gold caps, zodiac-wheel medallions and red tassels hang in a gentle arc from a red-lacquered beam under a black gabled cap, carried by two dark-timber posts on stone plinths.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Lanterns for the Lunar New Year Street kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Lunar New Year Street kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A street dressed for the festival. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: red #c32222, gold #d0a225, peach blossom pink #e085a3, black #151619, red dark #821717, gold dark #8f7019, red light #db5757, gold light #debd63, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `zodiacAnimal` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Zodiac animal" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Static street prop, 2.69 m tall (2.4 m to the top of the beam), about 2.95 m wide and 0.5 m deep at default params; each lantern body is 0.52 m across. Origin at bottom centre, both plinths rest on y = 0, front faces +Z. Every GLB material is named exactly its kit palette colour (red, gold, gold dark, black, ...) so the set recolours as one. zodiacAnimal (0-1) picks one of the 12 signs (Rat at 0 ... Pig at 1; default 0.5 = Horse) and marks it as a raised peach-pink stud on the abstract zodiac-wheel medallion on each lantern's front and back - no animal figure or text is modelled. lanternCount (1-5) widens the frame to keep clearance; lanternSize and postHeight rescale the lanterns and the frame. Normals are exported per face, so the facets stay flat in any engine. The ground disc, light rig and backdrop in the viewer are staging only and are not in the GLB, which carries no animation clips. The exporter clones each mesh's material, so the file lists 37 materials, all carrying the palette names above; the lint's material-count, duplicate-material, sibling-overlap and detached-part warnings come from that and from intended embedded joins (cords sunk into the beam and caps, caps sunk into the lantern bodies). Exported model: 2340 triangles.

About the Lanterns 3D model

Lanterns is a free low-poly 3D model from the Lunar New Year Street set. It measures 3.5 m × 2.7 m × 56 cm (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,340 triangles across 37 meshes, with 25 named parts. Download the 199 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Lanterns 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 199 KB: 2,340 triangles, 7,020 vertices and 37 materials, modelled in metres at 3.5 m × 2.7 m × 56 cm.
Can I animate Lanterns?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 25 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Lanterns 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
