Rocking horse

A low-poly child's rocking horse on a safety stand: a sunshine-yellow galloping horse with a coral mane and tail, a blue saddle with stirrups and a wooden hand grip, on a hoof board hung from swing irons above a blue base. In a seamless 4 s loop it rocks back and forth on the swing irons while the base stays still.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Rocking horse for the Kids' Bedroom kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Kids' Bedroom kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Toys, bunk beds and a fort. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: sky blue #2e67b8, sunshine yellow #eecd2b, coral #e2715a, white #f4f1ec, sky blue dark #1f457a, sunshine yellow dark #bda00f, sky blue light #6190d1, sunshine yellow light #f0db75, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `ageOfChild` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Age of child" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size at the default age: 0.36 m wide (0.29 m to the grip ends), 1.04 m long and 1.00 m tall to the ear tips. The saddle seat is at about 0.75 m. The origin is at the bottom centre of the base on y = 0, and the horse faces +Z. The model is a safety-stand rocking horse. The base and posts never move. Two swing irons pivot on pins at the post tops (z = ±0.30 m, y = 0.215 m) and carry the hoof board on pins at their upper ends. The irons lean inward, which makes a four-bar linkage, so the horse pitches nose-down as it swings forward and nose-up as it swings back. The tail swings on its own pivot at the tail root. Every node origin sits on its pin. The 4 s clip 'scene-motion' loops seamlessly. The static node pose in the GLB is the t = 2 s pose, where the irons, board and horse are at rest and the tail is part-way through its swing. The GLB has 2,004 triangles in 28 meshes, merged per part and palette colour with flat normals baked, and 28 material instances that use 10 palette names. Every material is named exactly after its kit palette colour; white and sunshine yellow dark are not used. Params are baked at export, so the GLB is the default build. ageOfChild scales the whole toy uniformly from 0.82× (a toddler's horse, about 0.82 m tall) to 1.18× (about 1.18 m tall). swingAngle sets how far the irons swing, and maneTufts sets the number of mane tufts. plan-check's part-id regex rejects the hyphenated slug ids that the library requires, so the plan was validated on a de-hyphenated copy (PASS); three-check accepts the hyphenated ids. glb-lint reports 0 errors. Its warnings are expected for this pipeline: one material instance per mesh, non-indexed flat-shaded geometry, pins nested in their bearings, and 'detached' flags on the body, mane and tail, which are separate part nodes inside the horse.

About the Rocking horse 3D model

Rocking horse is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the Kids' Bedroom set. It measures 36 cm × 1.0 m × 1.1 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,004 triangles across 28 meshes, with 13 named parts and a baked animation (4.0 s). Download the 189 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Rocking horse 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 189 KB: 2,004 triangles, 6,012 vertices and 28 materials, modelled in metres at 36 cm × 1.0 m × 1.1 m.
Is Rocking horse animated?
Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (4.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Rocking horse 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
