Steam jets

A copper steam-jet manifold bolted to an octagonal base plate, venting three faceted steam columns from staggered nozzles. A spoked handwheel and a pressure gauge drive a seamless 6-second pressure cycle while the base stays perfectly still.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Steam jets for the Giant's Kitchen kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Giant's Kitchen kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Tiny people on a huge table. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: wood brown #6b4a2e, enamel white #f4f1ec, copper #b8602e, tomato red #c32222, wood brown dark #362517, enamel white dark #d7cebc, wood brown light #9b704b, enamel white light #f9f8f6, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `scaleRatio` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Scale ratio" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Real-world size: 0.805 m wide (including the overhanging handwheel) x 0.827 m tall x 0.72 m deep; the base plate alone is 0.72 m across and the manifold drum sits 0.16 m above it. Giant's-Kitchen scale, so a tiny person on the table stands about waist-high to the drum. Origin is the centre of the base plate at y = 0; the handwheel overhangs to -X, so the overall X extent is not symmetric. Front (the gauge dial) faces +Z. Part ids use the prefix 'steamjets' rather than the full library slug because the kit's plan schema restricts the first id segment to /^[a-z][a-z0-9]*$/ and rejects hyphens. The GLB carries 60 materials rather than 8: the kit runtime clones each mesh's material during export, so every mesh gets its own copy. The names are still exactly the eight Giant's Kitchen palette colour names ('copper', 'soot black', ...), so recolouring by material name works as intended; merge by name on import if you want one material per colour. The 6 s clip has tracks for the 18 steam puffs, the valve wheel and the gauge needle only - the base, manifold, nozzles and gauge body carry no animation channel. First and last keyframes match to within 1.4e-16, so the loop is seamless. The exported model is 2356 triangles at default params and 3332 at jetCount 5, well inside the 9000 budget; the viewer scene reports 290 more than each (the staging ground disc, which is not exported).
