Ladder truck

A low-poly tractor-drawn aerial ladder truck (a tiller) for the Fire Station kit. An engine red cab-forward tractor pulls a long roller-door trailer that carries a white aerial ladder on a turntable, with a raised tiller cab at the back. It comes with a seamless 8 s loop: the wheels roll, the front axle steers while the tiller axle counter-steers, the ladder lifts, swings and runs out its fly section, and the beacons spin.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Ladder truck for the Fire Station kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Fire Station kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Ready for the alarm. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: engine red #c32222, brick #9e3d2e, brass #b28c34, white #f4f1ec, engine red dark #821717, brick dark #63261d, engine red light #db5757, brick light #c66253, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `engineLivery` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Engine livery" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: a tractor-drawn aerial (tiller) 14.9 m long from the siren on the front bumper to the rear step, 2.5 m wide across the body (3.0 m over the mirrors) and 3.37 m tall at rest to the top of the tiller beacon (tractor cab roof at 2.85 m, bedded ladder at about 2.8 m). That is shorter than a full-size 17–18 m tiller, so it fits a kit station bay. The tyres are 1.04 m across. The tractor has a 3.05 m wheelbase with duals on its rear axle, and the trailer's steering tiller axle sits 8.8 m behind the fifth wheel. The origin is at the bottom centre of the rest footprint, and the tyres rest on y = 0. The front faces +Z. The GLB has 5,520 triangles in 83 meshes, merged per part and per colour. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour. 8 of the 12 are used (brick, brick dark, brick light and dark wood are not). The exporter writes one material per mesh, so the same colour name appears on several materials: recolour by name. The baked clip scene-motion (8 s, seamless) moves only parts on their own pivots. All six wheel sets roll 1 whole turn on their axles. The front wheels sit in kingpin nodes that swivel ±0.1 rad about vertical axes through the wheel centres, and the tiller kingpins counter-steer ±0.12 rad. The ladder lifts up to ladderLift about its heel pin and settles back into its rest. The turntable swings up to about 6.5° only while the ladder is raised. The ram barrel swivels on its foot pin while its rod slides to stay on the ladder eye. The fly section slides out along the base section near the top of the lift. The three beacons spin. The tractor and trailer bodies never move, and the trailer is modelled rigid on its fifth wheel (it does not articulate). The windows are opaque soot black panels with no cab interiors. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the model when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. engineLivery (the kit's 'Engine livery') widens the white bands on the tractor cab, trailer and tiller cab from pinstripes (0) to broad bands (1). From 0.8 up, the cab and tiller roofs turn white. ladderLift sets the peak lift of the loop (0 holds the ladder bedded). flyReach sets how far the fly runs out at the peak. The extension is scaled down below 14° of lift, and it stays nested below 6°, so the fly always clears the tiller cab. compartments sets 3 to 6 roller doors in the long run on each side. Only the default params were rendered and checked; the extremes were not captured. glb-lint: 0 errors and 6 heuristic warnings (83 per-mesh duplicate materials over the direction's 10, non-indexed flat-shaded geometry, deliberately nested trim overlaps, parts flagged 'detached' because each sits in its own group, height against a generic 1 m reference). The lint's lowest point is -0.010 m, a tyre facet in the mid-roll export pose. The lint verdict reads UNVERIFIED only because no host requirements contract was supplied. plan-check passes (one warning: bold_moment) on a copy of the plan with the slug's hyphens removed, because its part-id regex rejects the hyphenated ids this library requires. three-check accepts the real ids, and all 33 survive the GLB reload.

About the Ladder truck 3D model

Ladder truck is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the Fire Station set. It measures 3.0 m × 3.9 m × 15 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 5,520 triangles across 83 meshes, with 33 named parts and a baked animation (8.0 s). Download the 558 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Ladder truck 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 558 KB: 5,520 triangles, 16,560 vertices and 83 materials, modelled in metres at 3.0 m × 3.9 m × 15 m.
Is Ladder truck animated?
Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (8.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Ladder truck 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
