Giant teacups

A lilac teacup big enough to climb into. It sits on its saucer with a black-and-white checker band, a gold lip, dark tea and a gold spoon resting on the rim. Low-poly and flat-shaded, made for the Dream Maze kit.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Giant teacups for the Dream Maze kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Dream Maze kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Stairs that go nowhere and doors in the sky. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: lilac #b89fd1, cream #f1e7d0, checker black and white #f4f1ec, gold #d0a225, lilac dark #916bb8, cream dark #e0c994, lilac light #ded4e8, cream light #fbf9f4, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `gravityDirection` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Gravity direction" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Real-world size: the saucer is 3.25 m across (its foot rests on y = 0), the cup rim is 2.1 m across and its gold lip is 1.5 m above the floor. The spoon handle reaches 1.805 m. The glTF bounding box reports about 3.82 m square because it measures the rotated saucer conservatively; the real footprint is 3.25 m. The origin is the saucer's centre on the floor. +Z is the front, and the handle points to +X. Static model with no animation clip. It has 1956 triangles in 12 meshes. Every material is named for its Dream Maze palette colour. The saucer and the foot ring both use lilac dark. Cream, cream dark, cream light, lilac light, warm white and mid grey are not used. Every mesh has baked flat normals, so the facets show in any engine. gravityDirection leans the cup on its saucer by up to 14°. At 0 it leans left (−X), at 0.5 it stands upright, and at 1 it leans toward the handle (+X). It pivots on the edge of the foot ring, so the foot always touches the saucer well. The tea stays put in the cup (dream logic). cupHeight sets the body height. rimRadius sets the rim size, and the saucer scales with it. teaLevel sets the tea surface as a fraction of the cup height. The exported GLB has all params at their defaults. Each part node carries its id in its name and in extras.partId. Each part also sits inside an identity-transform group with a hyphen-free alias name (for example dreammazegiantteacups.body), which the kit's plan checker needs. The viewer lowers exposure to 0.9 so the pastel palette doesn't wash out; this only affects the preview. glb-lint reported 0 errors and 5 warnings. The warnings are: 12 material slots, because the exporter writes one per mesh over 7 unique palette names; non-indexed geometry, because the flat normals are baked; overlap flags for the two interleaved checker meshes and the spoon pieces; and 'detached' flags for parts whose contact is with parts in other alias wrappers or that are deliberately embedded (the gold lip and saucer edge wrap their rims, the tea runs into the inner wall, and the handle ends sit inside the cup wall).
