Birdcages

A low-poly gold birdcage on a lilac tray, with a checker floor, a tiny arched door swung open, a hanging swing and a small staircase that climbs to nowhere. Part of the Dream Maze kit.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Birdcages for the Dream Maze kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Dream Maze kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Stairs that go nowhere and doors in the sky. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: lilac #b89fd1, cream #f1e7d0, checker black and white #f4f1ec, gold #d0a225, lilac dark #916bb8, cream dark #e0c994, lilac light #ded4e8, cream light #fbf9f4, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `gravityDirection` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Gravity direction" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Real scale: 0.576 m tall to the top of the hanging ring. The tray is 0.38 m across and the cage bars stand on a 0.34 m circle. The open door reaches about 7 cm in front of the tray. The origin is at the bottom centre, the model rests on y = 0, and the front (door side) faces +Z. 2,332 triangles in 16 meshes, with 7 materials. Each material is named after its Dream Maze palette colour (gold, lilac, lilac dark, checker black and white, soot black, cream dark, dark wood), so the kit recolours by name. The colours are flat, with no textures. Normals are baked flat, so the facets survive in any engine. The model is static and carries no animation clip. gravityDirection tilts the swing up to 34° either way (0.5 hangs straight down, 0 and 1 pull it sideways); it is baked into the exported geometry. barCount, cageHeight and doorOpen also rebuild the geometry. The plan's assembly groups use hyphen-free ids (birdcage.*) because the kit's plan grammar requires them, while every mesh carries the library id dream-maze-birdcages.*. glb-lint reports no errors and two heuristic warnings, both intended: the door knob sits on the door panel, and parts that touch across groups (bars in the floor, stairs on the floor, ring on the finial) are flagged as touching no sibling. The project copy of the runtime was changed so that meshes sharing a material keep sharing it in the GLB.
