Off-road truck

A low-poly lifted 4x4 pickup in sage green with knobbly tyres under black fender flares, a winch bumper and bull bar, a roof light bar, a snorkel, and a roll bar over a bed that carries a spare tyre and jerry cans. In a seamless 8-second loop the wheels roll and steer and the whip flag sways.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Off-road truck for the Desert Canyon kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Desert Canyon kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Red rock, heat and hidden water. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: sandstone orange #ed7e1d, sage #89a178, sky blue #2e67b8, bone #e4ddcd, sandstone orange dark #af590e, sage dark #637854, sandstone orange light #eea668, sage light #b1bca9, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `rockColour` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Rock colour" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: about 5.25 m long bumper to bumper (5.35 m including the recovery hooks and the trailing flag), 2.10 m wide over the flares (2.13 m over the mirrors) and 2.14 m tall over the roof light bar; the whip flag reaches 2.33 m. It rides on a 3.1 m wheelbase with 0.84 m knobbly tyres and 0.1 m of lift. The origin is at the bottom centre, the tyres rest on y = 0 and the front faces +Z. The exported model has 5,260 triangles (counted from the GLB). Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour; 11 of the 12 colours are used (sage light is unused). The exporter writes one material per mesh, so a colour name appears on several materials: recolour by name. The baked clip scene-motion (8 s, seamless) moves only pivoted parts: the wheels roll three whole turns on their axles, the front knuckles steer left and right (±0.2 rad) on kingpins through the wheel centres, and the whip flag sways on its base mount. The body, bed and axles never move. The GLB's static node pose is the frame the export was taken at (t = 2 s), so the front wheels are turned and the flag is leaning; play or reset the clip for the rest pose. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the geometry when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer; only the defaults were rendered and checked. rockColour (the kit's 'Rock colour') tints the dust band on the lower body in three steps along bone → sandstone orange light → sandstone orange: bone below 0.25, sandstone orange light (default) up to 0.75, sandstone orange above. lift raises the whole body, bed and accessories over the wheels and axles, and the arches stay concentric with the wheels. wheelbase slides the rear axle, arches, flares and wheel tubs under the fixed bed. wheelRadius sets the tyre size, and the arches and flares follow it. glb-lint reports 0 errors and 6 warnings: the material count is above the direction default because of per-mesh materials; duplicate same-colour materials (per-mesh export); non-indexed flat-shaded geometry (deliberate, for hard facet normals); intended overlaps where trim is set into the body; parts flagged as detached because they are attached to meshes in other part groups; and the 2.33 m height, which is real-world scale and not a unit error. Its verdict line reads UNVERIFIED only because no host requirements contract was supplied. plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens in the slug-based ids this library requires. A de-hyphenated copy of the plan passes. three-check accepts the hyphenated ids, and all 26 survive the GLB reload.

About the Off-road truck 3D model

Off-road truck is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the Desert Canyon set. It measures 2.2 m × 2.3 m × 5.3 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 5,260 triangles across 54 meshes, with 26 named parts and a baked animation (8.0 s). Download the 560 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Off-road truck 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 560 KB: 5,260 triangles, 14,030 vertices and 54 materials, modelled in metres at 2.2 m × 2.3 m × 5.3 m.
Is Off-road truck animated?
Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (8.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Off-road truck 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
