Kites

A low-poly park kite set: a quartered blue and white diamond kite with a bow tail and a green delta kite with twin ribbon tails. Both fly on lines from a wooden reel on a staked ground stand. Game-ready at 708 triangles, with knobs for season, kite count, flying height and tail bows.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Kites for the City Park kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the City Park kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Green space in the middle of town. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: grass green #3a883a, path beige #d6c5a9, pond blue #2e67b8, iron black #151619, grass green dark #235223, path beige dark #bda375, grass green light #5db15d, path beige light #ede8de, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `season` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Season" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: the bounds are 1.75 m wide, 1.37 m deep and 2.73 m tall. The diamond kite is 0.9 m tall and 0.7 m wide, the delta kite spans 1.1 m, and the reel stand is 0.66 m tall on a 0.44 m cross foot. The flying line is deliberately shortened: the kites fly at about 2–3 m instead of tens of metres, so the set stays one compact, grounded asset. The lines are what connect the kites to the stand, so nothing floats. The origin is at the bottom centre of the bounds, and the stand's cross foot rests on y = 0. The front faces +Z, toward the person flying the kites. The kites are downwind, behind and above the stand. Static asset: no animation clip. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults (season 0.5, 2 kites, 2.3 m, 6 bows) and only change the model when it is rebuilt in the viewer. season (the kit's 'Season') changes the diamond tail's bow colours: grass green light in spring (below 0.34), pond blue and warm white in summer, path beige dark in autumn (0.67 and above). It also lifts the kites up to 0.3 m higher toward autumn. kites = 3 adds a smaller grass green dark / path beige light diamond kite. Grass green light appears only at spring season values. Only the default params were captured; the param extremes were reasoned through in code but not rendered. Sails are thin closed extrusions (6 mm), not single-sided planes. Every material is named exactly after its kit palette colour, and the same name can appear on several materials, so recolour by name. glb-lint reports 0 errors and 6 heuristic warnings: material count and duplicate names (one material per mesh per part), non-indexed flat-shaded geometry, deliberate overlaps (the reel flanges around the wound line, the sail quarters around the spars), lines and ribbon tails flagged as 'detached' (each is a single-mesh group with no sibling in its own group, although both physically connect), and the height heuristic, which assumes about 1 m. The verdict reads UNVERIFIED only because no host requirements contract was supplied. plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphen in the city-park-kites slug that this library requires. three-check accepts those ids, and all 8 survive the GLB reload.

About the Kites 3D model

Kites is a free low-poly 3D model from the City Park set. It measures 1.8 m × 2.7 m × 1.4 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 708 triangles across 16 meshes, with 8 named parts. Download the 84 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Kites 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 84 KB: 708 triangles, 2,124 vertices and 16 materials, modelled in metres at 1.8 m × 2.7 m × 1.4 m.
Can I animate Kites?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 8 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Kites 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
