Cao nguyên đá Đồng Văn, Hà Giang

A tabletop diorama of the Đồng Văn Karst Plateau in Hà Giang, Vietnam: fields of fluted grey limestone fins with maize in red-soil pockets, green karst peaks with bare cliffs, a hairpin pass road, dry-stone walls, terraces, a pink-and-white buckwheat field and a H'Mông house with a yin-yang tile roof, all on a slate plinth. Buckwheat and maize sway in an 8-second wind loop.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

The Đồng Văn Karst Plateau Global Geopark as a tabletop diorama. Fields of jagged grey limestone — thousands of sharp, fluted rock fins and boulders — with maize growing in small pockets of red-brown soil between the rocks; dry-stone walls winding across slopes; a traditional H'Mông house with rammed-earth walls, a yin-yang tiled roof and a stone-fenced yard; terraced slopes; a field of pink-and-white buckwheat flowers; a narrow road with hairpin bends climbing a pass; steep karst mountains around. Loop (8 s): the buckwheat flowers and maize sway in the wind. Make it a polished, elegant model in the stylised-PBR direction: clean proportions, smooth curvature, soft bevels on every edge, crisp silhouettes and a restrained palette of named materials (name each material for what it is, e.g. "limestone", "red lacquer", "glazed roof tile", "sea water"); every material in the exported GLB must carry that name — set `material.name` on each one, because an unnamed material fails review. It must be recognisable at a glance as the real place. No text, lettering, logos or signage anywhere. Reference photos of the real place are in `reference/` (ref1.jpg, ref3.jpg): open and study them before planning if you can view images, and compare your hero capture with them before delivering. Natural sites and large complexes are presented as a tabletop diorama on a clean rounded plinth with slate-grey sides; state the real-world scale and the diorama scale in meta.notes. Hard requirement: the exported GLB must contain AT LEAST 150,000 triangles (target 200,000–350,000) — measure it before delivering. Spend the budget on real modelled detail (roof tiles, carvings, railings, mouldings, rock strata, foliage clusters, water surface, boats), never on invisible subdivision. Keep the GLB under 25 MB: index all geometry, instance repeated parts, no image textures.

Note: Footprint 1.07 x 0.87 m, 0.53 m tall, origin at the bottom centre of the plinth, front faces +Z. The diorama uses mixed scale: the village, fields, walls and rock fins are at about 1:110, and the karst peaks are compressed to about 1:1200. The real plateau covers about 2,350 sq km of limestone at 1,000-1,600 m elevation, with peaks rising several hundred metres above the valleys. The exported GLB has 337,461 triangles (9.8 MB, indexed, 16 named materials, no textures) and one 8 s clip, "wind-sway", which rotates the 12 buckwheat rows and 30 maize pockets as rigid nodes. Repeated parts are merged per material rather than GPU-instanced, so the file loads in any glTF importer. Part ids use "caonguyendadongvan" as the root because the kit's plan validator does not accept hyphens in part ids. rockDensity changes the triangle count: about 295k at 0.3 and about 352k at 1.0. windStrength only changes the motion, and 0 bakes a static clip. Changing seed re-scatters the rocks, maize pockets and plants. Material roles are recorded in material extras (userData.role).
