Survey drone

A low-poly quad-rotor survey drone landed on two skids, with a faceted teal hull, four magenta rotor ducts, a pan-and-tilt sensor gimbal and a spinning lidar puck. Its lens, eye, nav lights and lidar window glow in the Alien Jungle kit's glow colour.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Survey drone for the Alien Jungle kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Alien Jungle kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A glowing forest on another world. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: teal #2d8686, magenta #d02597, bioluminescent green #3a883a, deep purple #432055, teal dark #1a4d4d, magenta dark #8f1968, teal light #46b9b9, magenta light #de63b5, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `glowColour` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Glow colour" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Real-world scale: 0.91 m across the rotor ducts, 0.46 m long on the skids, 0.41 m tall to the antenna tip, resting on y = 0 with the nose facing +Z. Materials are named by Alien Jungle palette colour (teal, teal dark, magenta, magenta dark, warm white, mid grey, soot black, deep purple, plus the glow colour), so the kit can recolour by name. The 6 s 'scene-motion' clip loops seamlessly: four rotors turn 18 whole revolutions in alternating directions, the gimbal pans about its swivel and tilts the pod about its axle, and the lidar puck turns twice. Hull, arms, ducts and skids never move. glowColour snaps to one of three palette glows rather than blending: 0–0.33 teal light, 0.33–0.67 bioluminescent green (default, the one in this GLB), 0.67–1 magenta light. The glow is an emissive material, so it is lit but not bloomed in engines. Geometry carries per-face normals, so facets stay flat in engines that ignore the flat-shading flag. Part ids use the root 'surveydrone' because the kit's part-id grammar does not allow hyphens. The exporter writes one material copy per mesh (29 materials, 9 distinct palette names); merge them by name if your engine prefers. 1604 triangles. Params are re-applied when the viewer rebuilds; the downloaded GLB is the default configuration.
