Opening flower trap

A low-poly alien carnivorous flower: five toothed magenta petals hinged on a calyx cup open around a glowing lure, snap shut and slowly reopen, on a curved teal stem rising from a root mound with ground leaves.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Opening flower trap for the Alien Jungle kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Alien Jungle kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A glowing forest on another world. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: teal #2d8686, magenta #d02597, bioluminescent green #3a883a, deep purple #432055, teal dark #1a4d4d, magenta dark #8f1968, teal light #46b9b9, magenta light #de63b5, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `glowColour` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Glow colour" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: about 1.39 m tall and roughly 1.2 m across the ground leaves (open head about 0.9 m wide). Origin at bottom centre, rests on y = 0, front faces +Z. 1962 triangles, 10 materials, each named exactly after its Alien Jungle palette colour. The baked 6 s 'scene-motion' clip loops seamlessly: open and breathing, snap shut at 2.4 s, shudder, slow staggered reopen. Each petal pivots on its own hinge at the calyx rim, the head nods on a neck pivot at the top of the stem, and the base, leaves and stem never move. glowColour picks which palette colour glows (0 magenta light, 0.5 teal light, 1 bioluminescent green). That colour's material becomes emissive wherever it is used, so at 1 the leaf tops glow too and at 0 the inside faces of the petals glow. Params rebuild the model in the viewer only; the GLB carries the defaults. Part ids drop the slug's hyphens (alienjungleopeningflowertrap.*) because the kit's id rule does not allow hyphens. glb-lint reports 0 errors and one heuristic warning (the leaves deliberately tuck into the root mound); its verdict reads UNVERIFIED only because no requirements contract was supplied. When the trap is closed, the petal edges and teeth interlock and overlap slightly, as a clenched bud would.
