Survey beacons

A low-poly expedition survey beacon for an alien jungle: a soot-black tripod holds a tall mast with a warm-white instrument box and a caged lantern whose faceted core glows, topped by an antenna and a magenta pennant, with three glow-tipped marker stakes planted around it.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Survey beacons for the Alien Jungle kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Alien Jungle kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A glowing forest on another world. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: teal #2d8686, magenta #d02597, bioluminescent green #3a883a, deep purple #432055, teal dark #1a4d4d, magenta dark #8f1968, teal light #46b9b9, magenta light #de63b5, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `glowColour` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Glow colour" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: A ground-standing survey beacon 2.29 m tall to the antenna tip (mast top at 1.4 m), with a footprint of about 1.25 x 1.23 m including the marker stakes (default params). It rests on y=0 with the origin at the tripod's bottom centre, and the instrument screen and pennant face +Z. 1,140 triangles. Material names are Alien Jungle palette names: soot black, teal dark, mid grey, warm white, teal, magenta and the glow colour. glowColour is the kit's Glow colour setting. It switches the lantern core, mast band, instrument LED, antenna tip and stake tips between three palette colours in bands: 0-0.33 teal light, 0.34-0.66 magenta light (the default), 0.67-1 bioluminescent green. The glow is an emissive term equal to the base colour, so it survives in the GLB as emissiveFactor. No bloom is baked in, and the exported file is the default magenta light variant. Facets are baked into the geometry (non-indexed vertices, face normals), so the file looks low-poly in any engine. Part ids drop the slug's hyphens (alienjunglesurveybeacons.*) because the kit's part-id format allows no hyphens in the root id. The export gives each mesh its own material instance (40 slots sharing 7 palette names), so recolour by material name. This is a static prop with no animation clip. glb-lint reported no errors. Its warnings are heuristics: material count, non-indexed flat-shaded primitives, the leg clamps overlapping their legs (intended), parts flagged 'detached' because they sit in separate groups from the parts they are embedded in, and height compared with the direction's 1 m reference.
