Egg clusters

A low-poly clutch of five glowing alien eggs for the Alien Jungle kit. Each egg sits upright in a jagged magenta husk cup on a faceted deep-purple nest mound with roots that burrow into the ground, and the front egg is hatched open.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Egg clusters for the Alien Jungle kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Alien Jungle kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A glowing forest on another world. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: teal #2d8686, magenta #d02597, bioluminescent green #3a883a, deep purple #432055, teal dark #1a4d4d, magenta dark #8f1968, teal light #46b9b9, magenta light #de63b5, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `glowColour` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Glow colour" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Real scale: the default clutch is 0.59 m tall to the tip of the largest egg (0.46 m long) and about 1.23 m × 1.21 m across, roots included; the nest mound alone is about 1.0 m across. Origin is at the bottom centre, it rests on y = 0, and the front (with the hatched egg) faces +Z. 3,064 triangles, 6 materials, each named exactly after its kit palette colour; flat-shaded, with faceted normals baked into the mesh. Glow is emissive colour on the egg shells, the goo inside the hatched egg and the spore nubs. The GLB is exported at the defaults: glowColour 0.5, eggCount 5, eggScale 1, hatch 0.6. glowColour picks one of three palette glows by thirds (0–0.33 bioluminescent green, 0.33–0.66 teal light, 0.66–1 magenta light), so the glow material is always a named palette colour rather than a blend. All params are build-time: to change them you rebuild in the viewer and re-export, and a downloaded GLB keeps the values it was exported with. Across the full param range the model stays between 2,340 and 3,788 triangles and on y = 0. The model is static, with no animation clip. Only the root is declared in the design plan, as eggclusters, because the kit plan-checker does not accept hyphens in part ids; all sub-parts use the library slug ids. glb-lint reports 0 errors and 2 heuristic warnings, both intended: non-indexed geometry for the flat facets, and each egg shell nested inside its husk cup. The project runtime export was patched to reuse one material copy per source material, so shared palette materials stay shared in the GLB (6 materials instead of one per mesh).
