Rock pools
A low-poly Tropical Island rock shelf about 5.5 × 4.2 m, with four turquoise rock pools at stepped levels, wet black waterlines, grey boulders along the back, coral anemones, seaweed, a starfish and shells on a sand apron.

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:
Rock pools for the Tropical Island kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Tropical Island kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Palm beach and blue lagoon. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: sand #d1bd94, turquoise #31c4b8, palm green #3a883a, coral #e2715a, sand dark #ba9c5e, turquoise dark #22877e, sand light #e6ddcb, turquoise light #6dd5cc, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `islandSize` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Island size" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 5.45 × 4.20 m in plan and 1.08 m tall at the top of the tallest boulder. The rock shelf itself is about 0.3–0.5 m high. The bottom rests on y = 0, the origin is at the footprint centre and the front faces +Z. The terrain is closed underneath by a flat bottom cap. Each pool's water is a flat faceted sheet set 3 cm below the lowest point of its own rim, so the four pools sit at stepped levels, and each facet is tinted by the water depth under it. The GLB has 5,279 triangles in 15 meshes, is static and carries no animation clip. three-check's figure is slightly higher because it includes the viewer's staging ground, which is not exported. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour (11 of the 12; dark wood is unused). The exporter writes one material per mesh, so some names (mid grey, soot black, coral) appear more than once; recolour by name. islandSize (the kit's 'Island size') scales the shelf footprint and its pools from 0.85× to 1.15× (about 4.6 m to 6.2 m wide). poolCount removes pools from the back first, and rockHeight sets the tallest boulder. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and change the geometry only when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. Only the defaults were rendered and checked. The viewer uses exposure 0.6 rather than the direction's 1.05, so the pale sand does not wash out; this does not affect the GLB. The wet black waterline follows the terrain facets, so its edge is jagged in a deliberate low-poly way. glb-lint: 0 errors and 5 warnings, all expected. They are 15 materials over the direction's 10 (duplicates come from the per-mesh export), non-indexed geometry used on purpose for hard flat facets, overlapping boxes for the nested shelf, sand and water meshes, and 'detached' flags for the water, anemones, seaweed and starfish, which sit in or on the rock. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen. The same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check and the GLB reload keep all 8 ids.
About the Rock pools 3D model
Rock pools is a free low-poly 3D model from the Tropical Island set. It measures 5.5 m × 1.1 m × 4.2 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 5,279 triangles across 15 meshes, with 8 named parts. Download the 385 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.
- Is the Rock pools 3D model free for commercial use?
- Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
- What file format is it, and how big is it?
- A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 385 KB: 5,279 triangles, 15,837 vertices and 15 materials, modelled in metres at 5.5 m × 1.1 m × 4.2 m.
- Can I animate Rock pools?
- It ships as a static mesh. Its 8 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
- Which engines and tools can open it?
- Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
- How was the Rock pools 3D model made?
- Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
