Beach tiles

A low-poly 4 × 4 m Tropical Island ground tile: faceted beach sand around a turquoise tide pool banded by depth, with a wet-sand rim, a coral starfish, shells, pebbles, a driftwood log, a sprouting coconut and beach grass. Every edge is flat, so copies tile seamlessly in every direction.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Beach tiles for the Tropical Island kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. Make it a ground piece on an exact 4 × 4 m footprint with flat edges at y = 0 that tile seamlessly with its neighbours in every direction; origin at the tile centre. This is one part of the Tropical Island kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Palm beach and blue lagoon. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: sand #d1bd94, turquoise #31c4b8, palm green #3a883a, coral #e2715a, sand dark #ba9c5e, turquoise dark #22877e, sand light #e6ddcb, turquoise light #6dd5cc, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `islandSize` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Island size" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: exactly 4.00 × 4.00 m in plan and 0.73 m tall at the tips of the beach grass. The bottom rests on y = 0, the origin is at the tile centre and the front faces +Z. The packed sand bed is 0.04 m thick, the sand surface is at 0.20 m at every border and the tide-pool water is at 0.15 m. How it tiles: all sand relief fades to exactly 0.20 m within 0.30 m of every edge, so all four edges are flat at one height and in one colour (sand) and meet any neighbour flush. Rotated copies tile too, and all props stay inside the borders. The GLB has 5,312 triangles in 14 meshes, is static and carries no animation clip. three-check's 5,602-triangle figure includes the viewer's staging ground, which is not exported. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour (11 of the 12; soot black is unused). The exporter writes one material per mesh, so 'sand dark', 'dark wood' and 'coral' each appear twice; recolour by name. islandSize (the kit's 'Island size') trades water for land: higher values shrink the tide pool (radius scale 1.25 m at 0 down to 0.75 m at 1) and raise the dry berm (0.10 to 0.30 m). poolDepth sets how far the pool floor sits below the water, and shellCount sets the number of shells. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and change the geometry only when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. Only the defaults were rendered and checked. The viewer uses exposure 0.62 rather than the direction's 1.05 so the pale sand does not wash out; this does not affect the GLB. The water is a single upward-facing faceted sheet sunk into the sand basin and coloured per facet by the depth beneath it. The wet-sand rim follows the 0.09 m facets, so its edge has a stepped low-poly rhythm. glb-lint: 0 errors and 5 warnings, all expected: 14 materials over the direction's 10 (duplicates come from the per-mesh export), non-indexed geometry on purpose for hard flat-shaded facets, overlapping boxes for nested pieces (sand/crest, coconut/fronds, starfish/shells), and 'detached' flags for the water, shore, driftwood and shells, which sit in or on the sand. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids (its regex allows no hyphen); the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check and the GLB reload keep all 9 ids.

About the Beach tiles 3D model

Beach tiles is a free low-poly 3D model from the Tropical Island set. It measures 4.0 m × 73 cm × 4.0 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 5,312 triangles across 14 meshes, with 9 named parts. Download the 406 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Beach tiles 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 406 KB: 5,312 triangles, 15,924 vertices and 14 materials, modelled in metres at 4.0 m × 73 cm × 4.0 m.
Can I animate Beach tiles?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 9 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Beach tiles 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
