Beach huts

A low-poly 4 × 4 m Tropical Island ground tile with a painted beach hut on dark-wood stilts: turquoise board walls, a coral door and shutters, a railed porch with steps and a stepped thatch roof. A surfboard, shells, coconuts and beach grass sit on the sand around it, and the flat sand edges tile seamlessly.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Beach huts for the Tropical Island kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. Make it a ground piece on an exact 4 × 4 m footprint with flat edges at y = 0 that tile seamlessly with its neighbours in every direction; origin at the tile centre. This is one part of the Tropical Island kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Palm beach and blue lagoon. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: sand #d1bd94, turquoise #31c4b8, palm green #3a883a, coral #e2715a, sand dark #ba9c5e, turquoise dark #22877e, sand light #e6ddcb, turquoise light #6dd5cc, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `islandSize` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Island size" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: the tile is exactly 4.00 × 4.00 m in plan and 4.25 m tall at the ridge. The bottom rests on y = 0, the origin is at the tile centre and the front (door, porch, steps) faces +Z. The hut is 2.3 × 1.75 m inside its walls, with 2.0 m walls, a 2.6 × 1.05 m porch and a floor 0.6 m above the sand at the default island size. The roof eaves overhang to 3.3 × 3.24 m and stay inside the tile. How it tiles: the sand relief fades to exactly 0.12 m within 0.30 m of every border, so all four edges are flat at one height and in one colour (sand) and meet the other Tropical Island ground tiles flush. The GLB has 4,932 triangles in 26 meshes, is static and carries no animation clip. three-check's 5,214-triangle figure includes the viewer's staging ground, which is not exported. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour (9 of the 12 are used; sand light, turquoise light and turquoise dark are not). The exporter writes one material per mesh, so a colour name can appear on several materials; recolour by name. islandSize (the kit's 'Island size') trades tide for land: higher values heap a taller dry drift against the back of the hut (0.06 to 0.28 m) and lower the stilts (0.72 to 0.48 m). roofPitch sets the thatch slope and the ridge height. doorOpen swings the door out onto the porch, up to 83°. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults (door 30% open) and change the geometry only when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. Only the defaults were rendered and checked. The viewer uses exposure 0.62 rather than the direction's 1.05 so the pale sand does not wash out; this does not affect the GLB. glb-lint: 0 errors and 5 warnings, all expected: duplicate same-named materials from the per-mesh export; non-indexed geometry, which is deliberate for hard flat-shaded facets; nested sibling boxes (trim on walls, boards on the deck); and a 4.25 m height against the direction's 1 m reference height. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check and the GLB reload keep all 11 ids.

About the Beach huts 3D model

Beach huts is a free low-poly 3D model from the Tropical Island set. It measures 4.0 m × 4.2 m × 4.0 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 4,932 triangles across 26 meshes, with 11 named parts. Download the 422 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Beach huts 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 422 KB: 4,932 triangles, 14,796 vertices and 26 materials, modelled in metres at 4.0 m × 4.2 m × 4.0 m.
Can I animate Beach huts?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 11 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Beach huts 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
