Tow truck

A low-poly wrecker for the Tiny House kit: a white cab and bonnet, a cedar compartment body over dual rear wheels with cedar-board doors, a matte black light mast with a beacon, and a plant green boom with a hanging hook. It comes with a seamless 6 s loop: the wheels roll and steer, the boom lifts on its ram, the hook swings and the beacon spins.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Tow truck for the Tiny House kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Tiny House kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A complete home in a small box. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: cedar #814c31, white #f4f1ec, matte black #151619, plant green #3a883a, cedar dark #4a2b1c, white dark #d7cebc, cedar light #b36e4d, white light #f9f8f6, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `cladding` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Cladding" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: a medium-duty wrecker 5.99 m long from the front bumper guards to the rear tow bar, 2.48 m wide across the mirrors and 2.74 m tall to the top of the beacon (cab roof at 2.18 m). The tyres are 0.92 m across, on a 3.2 m wheelbase with dual tyres at the rear. The origin is at the bottom centre of the footprint and the tyres rest on y = 0. The front (grille) faces +Z, and the model root carries a 0.155 m z offset so the footprint is centred. The GLB has 2,572 triangles in 56 meshes, merged per part and per colour. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour. 11 of the 12 colours are used; white dark is not. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so the same colour name appears on several materials: recolour by name. The baked clip scene-motion (6 s, seamless) moves only parts on their own pivots. All four wheel sets roll 1 whole turn on their axles, and the front wheels sit in kingpin nodes that swivel ±0.12 rad about vertical axes through the wheel centres. The boom luffs about its deck hinge axle. The ram barrel swivels on its foot pin while its rod slides along it. The hook hangs plumb from the sheave axle and swings twice, and the beacon makes 6 turns. The body never moves. The windows are opaque matte black panels with no cab interior. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the model when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. cladding (the kit's 'Cladding') adds 0–5 horizontal cedar light boards to each of the four compartment doors, from the top down (default 0.5 gives 3 boards; 0 leaves bare cedar dark doors). boomLength sets the boom from 1.9 to 2.7 m. boomSwing sets the amplitude of the boom lift in the loop (0 holds it still). Only the default params were rendered and checked. This truck shares its build with the Roadside Diner tow truck, recoloured for this kit and fixed at the square front. glb-lint: 0 errors and 7 heuristic warnings: non-indexed flat-shaded geometry, per-mesh duplicate materials, deliberately nested trim overlaps, parts flagged 'detached' because each sits in its own group, height against a generic 1 m reference, and a 0.18 m ground dip. The ground dip comes from the lint's bounding box around the rotated tyres in the mid-roll pose; the tyres rest on y = 0 at rest. The verdict reads UNVERIFIED only because no host requirements contract was supplied. plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens in the slug-based ids this library requires; with the ids substituted it passes. three-check accepts the real ids, and all 26 survive the GLB reload.

About the Tow truck 3D model

Tow truck is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the Tiny House set. It measures 2.5 m × 3.1 m × 6.0 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,572 triangles across 56 meshes, with 26 named parts and a baked animation (6.0 s). Download the 287 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Tow truck 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 287 KB: 2,572 triangles, 7,716 vertices and 56 materials, modelled in metres at 2.5 m × 3.1 m × 6.0 m.
Is Tow truck animated?
Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (6.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Tow truck 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
