Awning
A low-poly prop-up window awning for a tiny house. A framed cedar-board panel hinges from a dark header above a window in a white lap-sided wall section, and two black gas struts lift it from a closed storm shutter into a tilted sun canopy over a window box.

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:
Awning for the Tiny House kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Tiny House kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A complete home in a small box. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: cedar #814c31, white #f4f1ec, matte black #151619, plant green #3a883a, cedar dark #4a2b1c, white dark #d7cebc, cedar light #b36e4d, white light #f9f8f6, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `cladding` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Cladding" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: a 2.04 m wide × 2.6 m tall wall section; the awning panel is 1.6 × 1.0 m, hinged at 2.14 m, and swings out to about 0.95 m from the wall. Origin is at the bottom centre on y = 0. The siding face sits at z = −0.40 so the open footprint centres near z = 0, and the front faces +Z. 2,060 triangles, counted from the GLB accessors (three-check's 2,350 includes the viewer's staging ground, which is not exported). Animation: the 'scene-motion' clip is a seamless 8 s loop. The awning holds open, eases down into a closed storm shutter over the window, holds, then eases back open. The panel turns about its hinge line. Each gas strut is two rigid halves: the body turns on its wall stud, and the rod is a child of the panel and turns on the panel stud. The pair telescopes with no scaling. The wall, window, header and window box never move. Because the exporter writes the static node pose after its t = 2 s determinism seek, the GLB's static nodes show the panel part-way through closing. cladding (the kit's Cladding setting) sets the board width of both the wall's lap siding (10–22 cm) and the awning boards (7–17 cm). openAngle sets the open hold angle (40–75° from closed), and the strut lengths are recomputed so they telescope across that range. awningWidth (1.2–2.0 m) resizes the panel, window and wall together. Every param extreme passed three-check. Every material is named exactly after its Tiny House palette colour; 11 of the 12 are used (warm white is not). three.js's exporter writes one material per mesh, so names repeat (glb-lint warns about the material count). plan-check's part-id pattern rejects the hyphenated slug ids the brief requires; the plan passed plan-check with the hyphens removed and is otherwise unchanged. glb-lint: 0 errors, with warnings for the material count, non-indexed flat-shaded geometry, intended nesting, a 'detached' heuristic for the struts (they hang from studs on the wall and panel parts) and scale versus a 1 m reference. In the straight-on front view, a very faint self-shadow edge from the window opening shows on the white siding.
About the Awning 3D model
Awning is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the Tiny House set. It measures 2.0 m × 2.6 m × 87 cm (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,060 triangles across 29 meshes, with 10 named parts and a baked animation (8.0 s). Download the 193 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.
- Is the Awning 3D model free for commercial use?
- Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
- What file format is it, and how big is it?
- A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 193 KB: 2,060 triangles, 6,180 vertices and 29 materials, modelled in metres at 2.0 m × 2.6 m × 87 cm.
- Is Awning animated?
- Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (8.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
- Which engines and tools can open it?
- Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
- How was the Awning 3D model made?
- Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
