Drums

A low-poly cluster of 200-litre steel drums for the Shipping Port kit: two standing, one knocked over in front, each with rolling hoops, rolled rims, bunged heads and a plain painted band. You can change the drum count, stand the third drum up, or change the colours.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Drums for the Shipping Port kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Shipping Port kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Containers, cranes and salt air. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: container colours #988e81, steel grey #757e8a, sea blue #2e67b8, yellow #eecd2b, container colours dark #70685c, steel grey dark #525860, container colours light #b6b3af, steel grey light #a3a5a8, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `containerColoursAndLogos` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Container colours and logos" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: each drum is a standard 200 L (55 US gal) steel drum, 0.585 m across the rims and 0.88 m tall. The default cluster is about 1.21 m (X) × 1.43 m (Z) × 0.88 m tall. The origin is at the bottom centre of the cluster, which rests on y = 0 (GLB bounds y 0.000–0.880), with the front facing +Z. The GLB has 1,848 triangles in 18 meshes, is static and has no animation clip. three-check's ~2.1k figure includes the viewer's staging ground, which is not exported. Each drum is its own node (drum_N) with body, hoops and lid sub-nodes, so you can pull a drum out or move it on its own. The lying drum rests on one flat rim facet. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour: the default build uses 6 of the 12, and dark wood is never used. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so a colour name can appear on more than one material; recolour by name. containerColoursAndLogos (the kit's 'Container colours and logos') steps the drums through weathered container colours, steel greys, sea blue + yellow (the default), yellow, and container colours light + blue. From 0.35 up it adds a plain painted band to each shell. The band is a flat colour block with no text, hazard marks or logos, because the library allows none. drumCount (1–4) arranges the standing drums as a single drum, a pair, a triangle or a 2×2 block. tippedDrum lays the last drum on its side when there are at least 2 drums. Params are baked into the GLB at their build values, and with fewer than 3 drums the drum_2/drum_3 ids are absent. Checked renders: the defaults, 4 drums with the knob at 1, and 1 drum with the knob at 0. The 1-drum run renders cleanly and only reports the planned drum_2/3 ids as missing. glb-lint: 0 errors and 4 expected warnings: material count and duplicate names (from the per-mesh export), non-indexed geometry (deliberate flat facets), and nested boxes (hoops, rims and band on the shell). plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. Fix round 1 turned the lying drum's head towards the hero camera and widened its gap to the standing drums. Fix round 2 baked the facet phase into the vertices instead of rolling a node, so per-mesh bounds no longer showed a false 7.6 cm dip below the ground.

About the Drums 3D model

Drums is a free low-poly 3D model from the Shipping Port set. It measures 1.2 m × 88 cm × 1.4 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 1,848 triangles across 18 meshes, with 13 named parts. Download the 147 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Drums 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 147 KB: 1,848 triangles, 5,544 vertices and 18 materials, modelled in metres at 1.2 m × 88 cm × 1.4 m.
Can I animate Drums?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 13 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Drums 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
