Retired Teacher

A realistic, fully procedural retired schoolteacher in his early seventies: slim and slightly stooped, with wire-rimmed glasses, a neat white moustache and thinning side-parted white hair. He wears a brown herringbone tweed jacket with leather elbow patches over a cable cardigan, pale blue shirt and knitted green tie, grey flannel trousers and brown brogues, standing in a neutral A-pose.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

A realistic full-body 3D character: a retired male schoolteacher in his early 70s, slim and slightly stooped, 174 cm tall. Kind grey eyes behind thin wire-rimmed glasses, a neat white moustache, pale skin with deep wrinkles, liver spots and visible pores. Thinning white hair combed to the side, modelled as hair cards. Clothing: a brown tweed jacket with leather elbow patches over a pale blue shirt and a knitted green tie, a cardigan underneath, grey wool trousers with a sharp crease, polished brown brogues, and a folded newspaper in the jacket pocket. Pose: neutral A-pose, arms at 45 degrees, fingers slightly spread, feet shoulder-width apart, neutral facial expression, mouth closed. Technical: 120,000 to 150,000 triangles total, with density concentrated in the face, hands and clothing folds. Clean quad-dominant topology with edge loops around the eyes, mouth, shoulders, elbows, knees and fingers so it deforms well when rigged. Separate meshes for body, eyes, teeth, hair and each clothing layer. Real-world scale in metres, origin at ground level between the feet. PBR textures at 4K: base colour, normal, roughness, metallic, ambient occlusion. No baked lighting or shadows in the base colour. No logos, brand names or readable text anywhere.

Note: Triangles: 149,580 in model.glb (16 meshes, 18 primitives, 20 draw calls). Authored as 72,822 quads (98.5% of triangles) plus 2,210 triangles at pole fans and end caps, triangulated on the shorter diagonal at build time. Density: head, face and ears 38,854 (the eyes and mouth are concentric ring patches with 12 and 13 edge loops cut into the head grid), each hand 7,220 (palm loft plus five ring-lofted fingers with knuckles, pads and raised nails), clothing about 60k with sculpted folds (elbow-crook and armpit folds on the sleeves, button tension and back drape on the jacket, knee, crotch and break folds on the trousers). Loops at the shoulders, elbows, knees and fingers come from the ring lofts. Limbs, fingers, thumb and ears are separate quad shells that overlap the torso, palm or head inside the body mesh. They are not welded, so the topology is clean per shell but not a single production retopology. There is no rig, no skin weights and no blend shapes; the model is static. Cloth is sculpted geometry, not simulated. Each garment has real thickness through turned hems, cuffs, front edges and facings. Hidden layers are partial: the cardigan has no sleeves (the jacket sleeves cover them) and the shirt is only its body, collar and cuffs. Hair, eyebrows, lashes and moustache are static alpha-tested cards (glTF MASK, cutoff 0.3) and share one hair material, which the exporter writes once per mesh. The scalp hair is 847 cards (16,838 triangles) in layers, from a dense under-layer near the scalp to loose outer wisps. Rows of long cards rooted along both edges of a left side parting are combed across the top to the right, and the strip left of the parting falls to the left side. The sides are combed back over the ear tops and the back is combed down to the nape. The top is thinner, so the scalp shows through faintly. The strand texture is white and silver locks of individual strands in clumps, with slight root darkening. The scalp skin under the hair is an even tone, with no painted hair or blotches. The moustache is 276 narrow strand cards (2,208 triangles) rooted on the upper lip. They are combed down and out from the philtrum and trimmed to a curve over the upper lip; the length parameter moves the trim line. The face is a procedural sculpt (an SDF skull and jaw plus a height-field facial relief), not a scan; the likeness is generic. Textures: 14 material sets, each with base colour, normal (glTF +Y convention), roughness, metallic and ambient occlusion, authored at 4096x4096 as dist/textures-4k/<set>_<map>.png (70 PNGs, about 320 MB). model.glb embeds 2048x2048 copies: base colour as JPEG (hair as PNG with alpha; the 2K scalp-lock alpha uses a boosted 2x2 mean so strands do not thicken, while brows, lashes and moustache keep the 2x2 max), normal as JPEG, and occlusion/roughness/metalness packed into one ORM JPEG. The exporter's JPEG quality is pinned to 0.85, and the GLB is 24.1 MB. The skin, eyes, teeth, hair, shoes, elbow patches, buttons and newspaper use unique UVs. Tweed (25 cm repeat), shirt (20 cm), trousers (20 cm), cardigan (10 cm, a cable panel plus the rib used by the button band) and tie (12 cm) are tiled fabrics, so their AO is weave-scale cavity only, with no garment-scale occlusion. Base colour carries pigment only, with no baked light or shadow. The skin is pale with warm undertones: pinker cheeks, nose, ears and chin, slightly darker skin under the eyes, liver spots, and faint pigment in the pores and creases. Pores (0.6 mm cells) and wrinkles are also in the normal map. Roughness varies across the face: an oilier T-zone and nose tip, drier cheeks, and rougher pores and creases. The newspaper print is abstract dash lines, solid bars and a halftone block with no letterforms, and nothing on the model carries a logo or text. Scale: metres, +Y up, facing +Z, soles on y = 0, origin between the feet. The height parameter scales the figure so the skin crown sits at that height after the stoop; with hair the bounds reach 1.745 m. The kit's plan grammar rejects hyphens in part ids, so each mesh keeps its library id (retired-teacher.<part>) and sits under a plan-alias group (teacher.<part>). The GLB therefore has 35 named nodes. glb-lint reports 0 errors (its verdict reads UNVERIFIED only because no requirements contract is supplied), with these warnings, none blocking: 18 materials against the base mannequin direction's default of 6; 149,580 triangles against its 80k budget (overridden to 150k in the plan); the shared hair material duplicated per mesh; and head-mounted parts that do not touch the ground plane. The named views are fixed, so the 390 px portrait views crop the arms. Review revision: rebuilt the hair cards and strand texture, the moustache cards, and the skin base colour, normal and roughness maps; every other mesh and texture set is unchanged from the reviewed version.

About the Retired Teacher 3D model

Retired Teacher is a free realistic 3D model from the Characters set. It measures 1.3 m × 1.7 m × 38 cm (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 149,580 triangles across 18 meshes, with 17 named parts. Download the 23.0 MB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Retired Teacher 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 23.0 MB: 149,580 triangles, 93,381 vertices and 18 materials, modelled in metres at 1.3 m × 1.7 m × 38 cm.
Can I animate Retired Teacher?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 17 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Retired Teacher 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
