Sample crates
A skid of hard-shell geology sample crates for the Mars Colony kit: two closed white cases with rust-red rib bands, hazard-orange corner caps, latches and handles, topped by a smaller case with its lid propped open over a foam insert of blue-capped core-sample tubes, with red regolith dust drifted against the skid.

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:
Sample crates for the Mars Colony kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Mars Colony kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A first settlement on red dust. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: rust red #c32222, white #f4f1ec, solar blue #2e67b8, hazard orange #ed7e1d, rust red dark #821717, white dark #d7cebc, rust red light #db5757, white light #f9f8f6, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `dustStormLevel` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Dust storm level" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Real-world size: skid 1.88 m long x 0.72 m deep (about 1.98 m with the sled-nose runners; drifts reach about 0.95 m deep). Each closed case is 0.78 x 0.56 x 0.42 m and the open case is 0.66 x 0.48 x 0.32 m. The stack is 0.93 m tall with the top lid closed and 1.42 m with it open at the default lidOpen 0.85 (about 92 degrees). Static asset: no animation clip, and evaluatePose is a no-op. lidOpen sets the hinge angle at build time (0 = closed, 1 = 108 degrees). dustStormLevel (0-1) rebuilds the seeded dust skirt on the closed cases and the drifts on the windward back and left end; at 0 the dust meshes are left out. crateCount 3 lengthens the skid and puts the open case on the middle crate. The drifts and skid are part of the model (no ground disc), and it rests on y = 0. Part ids use the root marscolonysamplecrates because the kit part-id rule does not allow dashes. Material names are the kit palette colour names so the kit can recolour the set. The exporter writes one material copy per mesh, so several materials share each palette name. Geometry is non-indexed with baked flat normals so it stays faceted in any importer. The exported GLB is 2588 triangles. glb-lint reports 0 errors; its warnings are heuristics (material count, non-indexed geometry, intentional nesting such as tubes in foam and bands on bodies, and cases that touch other parts only through their lids or corner caps).
