Trapdoor
A low-poly floor trapdoor: a square hatch cut into a section of plank floor, with a Z-braced plank lid standing open on black strap hinges over a dark well and the top of a ladder. An old amber lantern, dust and cobwebs finish the forgotten-basement look.

Left rail: colours and the 3 knobs the agent wrote into this model — they rebuild the geometry and go into your download. Right rail: looks for the viewer. Drag to orbit, scroll to zoom.

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:
Trapdoor for the Attic and Basement kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Attic and Basement kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Forgotten things above and below. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: dust brown #6b4a2e, cobweb grey #757e8a, bulb amber #ec9c13, faded colours #a6a6a6, dust brown dark #362517, cobweb grey dark #525860, dust brown light #9b704b, cobweb grey light #a3a5a8, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `dustAndCobwebLevel` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Dust and cobweb level" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: a 1.6 × 1.6 m section of plank floor, 0.29 m thick to the top of the hatch trim, with a 0.8 × 0.9 m hatch. The lid stands open at 62°, which makes the model 1.08 m tall. Origin is at the bottom centre on y = 0, and the front faces +Z. The lid hinges along the back edge of the hatch, so from the front you see its Z-braced underside, and its top face with the straps and ring pull shows from the back. The lid is its own node, pivoted on the hinge line, so you can rotate it about local X in an engine to open or close it. The well is a short, dark cut-away with a soot-black floor at y = 0, not a full basement. 1,656 triangles, counted from the GLB accessors. three-check's figure (2,018) also includes the viewer's staging ground, which is not exported. Static: no animation clip. openAngle sets the lid's rest angle (0 = closed flush, 100 = just past upright). hatchWidth resizes the hatch, the lid, the plank count, the hinge spacing and the lantern's position. dustAndCobwebLevel scales the dust patches on the floor and the lid, adds patches (2 to 4) and cobwebs (1 to 3: a back corner of the well, under the lid, then the other back corner). At 0, one small cobweb remains. Both param extremes passed three-check. The cobweb film is a translucent (BLEND) material named 'faded colours'. The lantern glass is emissive, and the model contains no light. Every material is named exactly after its kit palette colour; three.js's exporter writes one material per mesh, so names repeat (glb-lint warns 19 > 10). plan-check's part-id pattern rejects the hyphenated slug ids the brief requires; the plan passed plan-check with the hyphens removed and is otherwise unchanged. glb-lint: 0 errors. Its warnings are the material count, non-indexed flat-shaded geometry, intended nesting on the lid, and 'detached' heuristics for the boards and dust patches, which lie on the core and the boards.
About the Trapdoor 3D model
Trapdoor is a free low-poly 3D model from the Attic and Basement set. It measures 1.6 m × 1.1 m × 1.6 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 1,656 triangles across 19 meshes, with 26 named parts. Download the 135 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.
- Is the Trapdoor 3D model free for commercial use?
- Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
- What file format is it, and how big is it?
- A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 135 KB: 1,656 triangles, 4,968 vertices and 19 materials, modelled in metres at 1.6 m × 1.1 m × 1.6 m.
- Can I animate Trapdoor?
- It ships as a static mesh. Its 26 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
- Which engines and tools can open it?
- Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
- How was the Trapdoor 3D model made?
- Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
