Boiler rumble
A low-poly old cast-iron basement boiler on dark-wood skids, with a banded octagonal drum, a firebox door leaking amber firelight, a pressure gauge, a copper riser with a gate valve, a weighted safety-valve lever and a flue stub. It plays a seamless 6-second loop in which a rumble builds and settles: the body shakes, the door rattles, the needle climbs and the safety lever lifts.

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:
Boiler rumble for the Attic and Basement kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Attic and Basement kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Forgotten things above and below. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: dust brown #6b4a2e, cobweb grey #757e8a, bulb amber #ec9c13, faded colours #a6a6a6, dust brown dark #362517, cobweb grey dark #525860, dust brown light #9b704b, cobweb grey light #a3a5a8, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `dustAndCobwebLevel` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Dust and cobweb level" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: about 0.92 m wide (x, riser to safety-lever weight), 0.88 m deep (the skids) and 1.78 m tall to the top of the flue flange; the drum is 0.68 m across. The front (firebox door) faces +Z, +Y is up, and the origin is at the bottom centre with the skids resting on y = 0. The GLB has 1,656 triangles in 31 meshes (merged per part and colour), no textures, and flat normals (non-indexed), so the facets survive in any engine; three-check's higher figure includes the viewer's ground, which is not exported. Every material is named exactly after its kit palette colour (all 12 are used); the exporter writes one material per mesh, so names repeat: recolour by name. The fire is a lightly emissive 'bulb amber' and the model contains no light. The cobweb film is a translucent, double-sided 'faded colours' material. Motion: one baked 6 s clip, 'scene-motion', at 30 fps, seamless (every term is a whole number of cycles per loop). A rumble builds from calm at 0 s to a peak at 3 s and settles. The skids and ash pit never move. The body group pivots at the centre of its seat on the ash pit (0, 0.22, 0) and rocks up to about 1.6° while lifting by the tilt's edge drop, so no corner sinks into the seat. The firebox door swings on its vertical hinge line at its left edge, the gauge needle turns on its spindle, the safety lever lifts on its fork pin, and the damper handle turns on its axle through the flue. The t = 0 pose (the static node pose) is calm. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the model when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. dustAndCobwebLevel (the kit's 'Dust and cobweb level') grows the dust patches on the ash-pit ledge (1 to 4) and the crown (1 to 3) and adds cobwebs one at a time: the riser elbow, under the riser bracket, then between the flue and the crown. At 0 there is no dust and the dust part is an empty group. rumbleStrength scales every motion; at 0 the loop is still. flueHeight changes the flue stub and the copper riser together. doorAjar sets the door's rest opening. The model was checked with every param at its maximum (2,246 tris including staging) and stays valid. glb-lint reports 0 errors and 5 heuristic warnings: material count and duplicates (per-mesh materials), unindexed geometry (flat shading, on purpose), sibling overlap (door on the fire plate, dial in its bezel), and 'detached' small parts (needle, gauge stand-off, dust) that sit on surfaces belonging to other parts. plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens this library's slug-based ids need; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes.
About the Boiler rumble 3D model
Boiler rumble is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the Attic and Basement set. It measures 91 cm × 1.8 m × 88 cm (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 1,656 triangles across 31 meshes, with 11 named parts and a baked animation (6.0 s). Download the 170 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.
- Is the Boiler rumble 3D model free for commercial use?
- Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
- What file format is it, and how big is it?
- A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 170 KB: 1,656 triangles, 4,968 vertices and 31 materials, modelled in metres at 91 cm × 1.8 m × 88 cm.
- Is Boiler rumble animated?
- Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (6.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
- Which engines and tools can open it?
- Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
- How was the Boiler rumble 3D model made?
- Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
