Gatehouse

A bright low-poly castle gatehouse: an arched stone gate passage with a raised portcullis and open timber doors, flanked by two octagonal towers with crenellated crowns, royal-blue conical roofs and crimson pennants, with heraldic banners over the arch on both faces. Modular, 10 m long on a 1 m grid.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Gatehouse for the Royal Castle Court kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It is a modular piece that snaps on a 1 m grid: give it a length in whole metres and put the origin at its snapping end, stated in meta.notes. This is one part of the Royal Castle Court kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A bright castle for ceremonies and intrigue. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: stone white #f4f1ec, royal blue #2e67b8, gold #d0a225, crimson #a51d34, stone white dark #d7cebc, royal blue dark #1f457a, stone white light #f9f8f6, royal blue light #6190d1, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `bannerCrestAndColours` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Banner crest and colours" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id. Material names are the palette colour NAMES listed above (e.g. "leaf green", "dark wood") — never a hex code like "#3d2a1c". meta.json must be valid JSON.

Note: Real-world scale at default parameters: 10 m long (X), 13.23 m tall to the pennant tips, about 5 m deep, resting exactly on y = 0. Modular piece on a 1 m grid: the origin is at the snapping end (x = 0, y = 0, z = 0 on the curtain-wall centreline) and the gatehouse runs along +X to x = length, so curtain-wall segments butt onto both end faces. The front (+Z) carries the projecting towers. The gate passage is open all the way through. Static: evaluatePose is a no-op and the GLB carries no animation clip. Every material is named for its exact kit palette colour (9 of the 12 are used). The runtime exports one material instance per mesh, so the GLB holds 37 material slots that share those 9 names. Part ids use the 'gatehouse.' prefix because the kit's part-id format does not allow hyphens. bannerCrestAndColours drives both banners: below 0.5 the field is royal blue with a crimson crest centre, from 0.5 it is crimson with a royal-blue centre. The gold crest appears from 0.1 and grows with the value. portcullisOpen raises the portcullis into its wall slot. All parameters rebuild the geometry in the viewer; they are not live controls inside the GLB. Export: 2132 triangles, 37 meshes, 185 KB. glb-lint reports 0 errors. Its warnings were reviewed and are not defects: duplicated per-mesh materials, intended embedded joins (the portcullis slot, the towers set into the block), and the deliberate 13 m scale. The verdict reads 'unverified' only because no requirements contract was supplied. The ground disc in the preview is viewer staging and is not part of the model. OBJ export is geometry only.
