Billboard flicker
A low-poly rooftop tri-vision billboard: twelve triangular louvers in a brick red frame flip between a sunset, a skyline and a stripe poster, on steel columns over timber roof sleepers with a catwalk and floodlights. It has a seamless 6 s loop in which one faulty louver flickers out of step.

Left rail: colours and the 4 knobs the agent wrote into this model — they rebuild the geometry and go into your download. Right rail: looks for the viewer. Drag to orbit, scroll to zoom.

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:
Billboard flicker for the Rooftop District kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Rooftop District kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Life above the streets. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: brick red #c32222, tar grey #757e8a, sunset orange #ed7e1d, water-tower brown #6b4a2e, brick red dark #821717, tar grey dark #525860, brick red light #db5757, tar grey light #a3a5a8, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `skylineHeight` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Skyline height" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: the poster is 4.8 m wide and 2.4 m tall. The sign stands 5.27 m tall overall at the default skylineHeight, on sleepers 2.4 m deep. Origin is at the bottom centre with the timber sleepers resting on y = 0, and the poster faces +Z. The GLB has 2,676 triangles and uses 11 of the 12 kit palette colours; mid grey #7d828c is not used. Every material is named exactly after its colour. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so a name repeats: recolour by name. The baked clip scene-motion is a seamless 6 s loop. Every louver turns 120 degrees about its own vertical shaft every 2 s, so three flips make one full turn and show sunset, then skyline, then stripe. Louver 9 twitches during the holds, and the middle floodlight rattles on its hinge pin after each flip. The sleepers, columns, frame, catwalk and the other two floodlights never move. Each louver is its own node and the clip carries 13 animated nodes. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the model when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. skylineHeight (the kit's 'Skyline height') raises the sign from 1.4 m to 3.0 m of column under the sill and makes the skyline poster's towers taller. panelWidth and louverCount resize the louver bank: louvers are always narrower than their spacing, so they never touch while turning. flicker scales the faulty louver's twitch and the lamp rattle; 0 makes the loop a clean flip. Only the default params were rendered and checked; the extremes were not captured. glb-lint: 0 errors and 5 heuristic warnings: per-mesh duplicate material names, material count above the direction's soft max of 10, non-indexed geometry (deliberate flat shading), overlap of nested parts such as shafts in the frame and braces on columns, and a 5 m height against the direction's 1 m reference. plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens in the slug-based ids this library requires; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check accepts the real ids, and all 19 survive the GLB reload.
About the Billboard flicker 3D model
Billboard flicker is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the Rooftop District set. It measures 5.2 m × 5.3 m × 2.5 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,676 triangles across 87 meshes, with 19 named parts and a baked animation (6.0 s). Download the 302 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.
- Is the Billboard flicker 3D model free for commercial use?
- Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
- What file format is it, and how big is it?
- A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 302 KB: 2,676 triangles, 8,028 vertices and 87 materials, modelled in metres at 5.2 m × 5.3 m × 2.5 m.
- Is Billboard flicker animated?
- Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (6.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
- Which engines and tools can open it?
- Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
- How was the Billboard flicker 3D model made?
- Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
