Road roller
A low-poly articulated tandem asphalt roller in cone orange for the Highway and Roadworks kit, with two steel drums, a water-tank hood, an engine hood and an operator deck under a pale canopy with an amber beacon. In a seamless 6-second loop the drums roll, the front frame steers on its articulation pin, the steering wheel turns and the beacon spins.

Left rail: colours and the 3 knobs the agent wrote into this model — they rebuild the geometry and go into your download. Right rail: looks for the viewer. Drag to orbit, scroll to zoom.

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:
Road roller for the Highway and Roadworks kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Highway and Roadworks kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Lanes, junctions and cones. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: asphalt #3b3e45, line white #f4f1ec, cone orange #ed7e1d, sign green #3a883a, asphalt dark #17191c, line white dark #d7cebc, asphalt light #636569, line white light #f9f8f6, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `countryRoadRules` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Country road rules" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: about 4.6 m long, 1.67 m wide and 3.12 m tall to the beacon (2.98 m to the canopy roof) at the default knobs. It has 1.14 m drums, each 1.45 m wide, on a 3.2 m wheelbase. The origin is at the bottom centre, the drums rest on y = 0 and the front (water tank) faces +Z. The exported model has 2,168 triangles. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour, and 8 of the 12 colours are used. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so a colour name appears on several materials: recolour by name. The baked clip scene-motion (6 s, seamless) moves only parts on their own pivots. Both drums roll two whole turns on their axles. The front frame, which carries the water tank and front drum, swings ±7° on the vertical articulation pin at z = 0.3 m. The steering wheel turns on its column with that swing, and the beacon spins six turns on its swivel. The rear frame, deck and canopy never move. The GLB's static node pose is the frame the export was taken at, so the front frame may be turned slightly. Play or reset the clip for the rest pose. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the geometry when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. countryRoadRules (the kit's 'Country road rules') narrows the drums from 1.7 m (motorway roller) to 1.2 m (country-lane roller), and the frame, hoods and canopy follow. drumDiameter raises everything above the drums. wheelbase moves the axles and drum yokes. glb-lint reports 0 errors and 7 heuristic warnings. Two are the per-mesh materials (the material count is above the direction default, and same-colour materials are duplicated). The others are non-indexed flat-shaded geometry, intended nesting overlaps, and the steering column flagged as detached because it sits on the console in a sibling group. The last two are the grounding and scale heuristics, which read the rotated drums' axis-aligned boxes: no drum vertex goes below y = 0. Its verdict line reads UNVERIFIED only because no host requirements contract was supplied. plan-check passes on a de-hyphenated copy of the plan; its part-id regex rejects the hyphens in the slug-based ids this library requires. three-check accepts those ids, and all 10 survive the GLB reload.
About the Road roller 3D model
Road roller is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the Highway and Roadworks set. It measures 1.9 m × 3.3 m × 4.9 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,168 triangles across 36 meshes, with 10 named parts and a baked animation (6.0 s). Download the 268 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.
- Is the Road roller 3D model free for commercial use?
- Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
- What file format is it, and how big is it?
- A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 268 KB: 2,168 triangles, 6,504 vertices and 36 materials, modelled in metres at 1.9 m × 3.3 m × 4.9 m.
- Is Road roller animated?
- Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (6.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
- Which engines and tools can open it?
- Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
- How was the Road roller 3D model made?
- Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
