Waterwheel

A low-poly elven overshot waterwheel on a treetop plank deck: a stilted cistern feeds a flume that pours onto a gold-banded timber wheel, which turns on twin A-frame trestles above a tailrace trough. Includes a seamless 8-second turning loop.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Waterwheel for the Elven Treetop City kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Elven Treetop City kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Platforms and bridges high in giant trees. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: leaf green #3a883a, silver #b9bfc6, bark brown #6b4a2e, soft gold #cfaf59, leaf green dark #235223, silver dark #8f99a3, leaf green light #5db15d, silver light #e4e6e7, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `season` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Season" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Real-world scale in metres: about 5.3 m long, 2.1 m deep and 5.05 m tall to the cistern finial; the wheel is 3.0 m across and 0.8 m wide, and its axle sits 2.04 m above the deck underside. The base rests on y = 0 with the front facing +Z. The clip scene-motion (8 s, seamless) turns only the wheel node about its axle at 7.5 rpm. Everything else stays still, and the water is static faceted geometry. Every material is named exactly after its kit palette colour. Leaf green light is used only when season is below 0.3, and the GLB carries the default season 0.5 (leaf green with leaf green dark accents). Season picks the vine leaf colours: spring light green, summer green, late summer dark green, autumn soft gold. Part ids use the prefix elventreetopcitywaterwheel because the kit id grammar does not allow hyphens. Params rebuild the geometry and rebake the clip in the viewer; the downloaded GLB holds the default build. Fitted joints (axle in bearings, flume in the tank, spokes in the shroud) overlap on purpose. Normals are flat per face, so the facets survive in any engine. glb-lint: 0 errors, 3 heuristic warnings (non-indexed flat-shaded geometry, intended nesting overlaps, height above its 1 m default). Its overall verdict reads UNVERIFIED only because no requirements contract was supplied. OBJ export carries geometry only.
