Lifeboat stations

A low-poly cruise ship lifeboat station: two enclosed lifeboats with white hulls, blue rub rails and sunset-coral canopies hang in their falls under white gravity davits, over a teak deck section with a railed embarkation platform, winches and a life-jacket locker.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Lifeboat stations for the Cruise Ship Deck kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Cruise Ship Deck kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A floating holiday. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: white #f4f1ec, teak #815731, pool blue #2e67b8, sunset coral #e2715a, white dark #d7cebc, teak dark #4a311c, white light #f9f8f6, teak light #b37c4d, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `shipLength` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Ship length" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size at defaults: 24.3 m long (X) × 6.8 m deep (Z) × 7.15 m tall, with two 9.5 m lifeboats (3.4 m beam). The sea side, where the boats would lower, faces +Z. The embarkation platform, winches and locker are at the back (−Z), and the stair is at the −X end. The origin is at the bottom centre and the model rests on y = 0. The GLB has 2,036 triangles in 29 meshes (merged per part and colour, with flat normals and non-indexed geometry) and no animation clip; it is a static asset. It uses all 12 kit colours, and every material is named exactly after its palette colour. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so a colour name can repeat: recolour by name. shipLength (the kit's 'Ship length') sets the number of davit bays and boats: 1 below 0.25, 2 at the default, and 3 from 0.75 up. boatLength scales the boats, the bay pitch and the deck depth. swingOut tilts the hanging boats outboard about their fall heads, from 0° to 6°. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and change the geometry only when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. Both extremes passed three-check: 1,470 triangles at the minimum and 3,158 at the maximum. glb-lint: 0 errors. Its verdict prints UNVERIFIED because 5 rules need a requirements contract or a manual review. Its heuristic warnings (material count, duplicate materials, unindexed geometry, sibling overlap, scale against a 1 m reference) were reviewed and are intended. plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens in the slug-based ids this library requires; a copy with the hyphens removed passes. About the Lifeboat stations 3D model

Lifeboat stations is a free low-poly 3D model from the Cruise Ship Deck set. It measures 24 m × 7.2 m × 6.8 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,036 triangles across 29 meshes, with 9 named parts. Download the 168 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Lifeboat stations 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 168 KB: 2,036 triangles, 6,108 vertices and 29 materials, modelled in metres at 24 m × 7.2 m × 6.8 m.
Can I animate Lifeboat stations?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 9 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Lifeboat stations 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
