Rope lift
A low-poly hand-cranked mine hoist: two timber A-frames over a shaft mouth carry a big iron sheave, and a winch drum behind them winds an amber rope that lifts a crystal-laden ore basket. It loops seamlessly every 8 seconds.

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:
Rope lift for the Cave System kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Cave System kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Tunnels, crystals and underground water. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: stone grey #757e8a, crystal cyan #20c6df, moss #55743e, torch amber #ec9c13, stone grey dark #525860, crystal cyan dark #168a9c, stone grey light #a3a5a8, crystal cyan light #67d4e4, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `crystalColour` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Crystal colour" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: about 2.45 m wide × 4.05 m deep × 3.66 m tall (sheave axle 3.2 m up, sheave 0.68 m across, basket 0.8 m square × 0.7 m deep). Origin is at the bottom centre and the front (the shaft mouth and basket) faces +Z; the winch sits behind the frame. The GLB has 2,232 triangles in 35 meshes; three-check's ~2.5k figure includes the viewer's staging ground, which is not exported. Animation: one 8 s seamless clip ('scene-motion') moves only the basket (translate, pivot at its hook), the hoist rope (scale from where it leaves the sheave groove), the sheave (rotate on its axle) and the drum + crank (rotate on the drum axle). Rope paid in eases 0 → max → 0 over the loop and each wheel turns by exactly that length over its radius, so t = 0 and t = 8 s match. The collar, frame, winch stands, rope run to the drum, lantern and crystals never move. The rope run from the drum to the sheave is static even though the drum turns. The GLB's static node pose is the t = 2 s frame (basket mid-lift), because three-check exports after its determinism seek. Materials are flat-shaded, roughness 0.95, metalness 0, and named exactly after kit palette colours. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so names repeat: recolour by name. The lantern crystal carries a mild emissive under the same palette name. crystalColour (the kit's 'Crystal colour') slides every crystal (basket ore, collar clusters, lantern) along crystal cyan dark → crystal cyan → crystal cyan light, with tips one step lighter. frameHeight sets the sheave height (the trestles, rope and available travel follow); basketSize sets the basket width and height (the frame widens to clear it); travel sets how far the basket rises as a fraction of the clear height. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change geometry when the viewer rebuilds the scene; only the defaults were rendered and checked. glb-lint: 0 errors and 6 warnings, all expected: per-mesh duplicate materials, non-indexed geometry for hard flat facets, nested meshes inside a part, a 'detached' heuristic for the two rope meshes (each rope is its own part and touches the sheave/drum in other parts), and a scale warning because the 3.7 m piece is above the 1 m reference height. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check and the GLB reload keep all 11 ids.
About the Rope lift 3D model
Rope lift is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the Cave System set. It measures 2.5 m × 3.7 m × 4.0 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,232 triangles across 35 meshes, with 11 named parts and a baked animation (8.0 s). Download the 219 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.
- Is the Rope lift 3D model free for commercial use?
- Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
- What file format is it, and how big is it?
- A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 219 KB: 2,232 triangles, 6,696 vertices and 35 materials, modelled in metres at 2.5 m × 3.7 m × 4.0 m.
- Is Rope lift animated?
- Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (8.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
- Which engines and tools can open it?
- Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
- How was the Rope lift 3D model made?
- Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
