Falling stalactite
A low-poly rock arm about 3.3 m tall that curls into a ledge of cave roof, with a 1.2 m pale calcite stalactite that shudders, snaps off, falls and shatters on the floor in a seamless 6-second loop before a new one grows back from the scar.

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:
Falling stalactite for the Cave System kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Cave System kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Tunnels, crystals and underground water. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: stone grey #757e8a, crystal cyan #20c6df, moss #55743e, torch amber #ec9c13, stone grey dark #525860, crystal cyan dark #168a9c, stone grey light #a3a5a8, crystal cyan light #67d4e4, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `crystalColour` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Crystal colour" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 1.87 m wide × 2.58 m deep × 3.31 m tall. The ledge underside at the stalactite root is 2.56 m up, and the 1.2 m stalactite's tip hangs about 1.36 m above the floor. The origin is at the bottom centre and the front faces +Z. The GLB has 1,204 triangles in 31 meshes. three-check's figure includes the viewer's staging ground, which is not exported. Animation: one 6 s seamless clip ('scene-motion', 42 channels). The rock ledge, small stalactites, rubble and crystals never move. The stalactite node sits exactly at its root on the ledge underside. It rocks on that hinge, snaps and free-falls by translation, crushes tip-first into the floor, then grows back from the same root by scaling. Chips drop from the root after the break. Six shards burst from the impact point, tumble about their own centres, rest on the floor and sink away by scaling. A dust ring billows at the impact point. Hidden phases use near-zero scale rather than toggling visibility. The GLB's static node pose is the t = 2 s frame (the stalactite regrowing), because three-check exports after its determinism seek. Materials are flat-shaded, with roughness 0.95 and metalness 0, and named exactly after kit palette colours. Crystal tones carry a mild emissive. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so names repeat: recolour by name. At the defaults 8 of the 12 kit colours are used (crystal cyan dark appears when crystalColour is low; soot black, torch amber and dark wood are not used). crystalColour (the kit's 'Crystal colour') slides the two crystal clusters along crystal cyan dark → crystal cyan → crystal cyan light, with tips one step lighter. stalactiteLength sets the falling spike (capped to leave at least 0.6 m under the tip), and the fall time follows from it. ceilingHeight raises the ledge. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change geometry when the viewer rebuilds the scene; only the defaults were rendered and checked. glb-lint: 0 errors and 6 warnings, all expected: per-mesh duplicate materials and the direction's material-count heuristic, non-indexed geometry on purpose for hard flat facets, nested meshes inside a part, a 'detached' heuristic for the hanging and moving parts, and a scale warning because the 3.3 m piece is above the 1 m reference height. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check and the GLB reload keep all 14 ids.
About the Falling stalactite 3D model
Falling stalactite is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the Cave System set. It measures 1.9 m × 3.3 m × 2.6 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 1,204 triangles across 31 meshes, with 14 named parts and a baked animation (6.0 s). Download the 144 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.
- Is the Falling stalactite 3D model free for commercial use?
- Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
- What file format is it, and how big is it?
- A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 144 KB: 1,204 triangles, 3,612 vertices and 31 materials, modelled in metres at 1.9 m × 3.3 m × 2.6 m.
- Is Falling stalactite animated?
- Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (6.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
- Which engines and tools can open it?
- Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
- How was the Falling stalactite 3D model made?
- Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
