Canal house fronts
A low-poly row of three narrow Amsterdam-style canal houses, each crowned by a different Dutch gable (step, neck and bell), with tall white-framed windows, a hoist beam over every loft door, stone stoops and two city bikes parked on the pavement. Part of the Bicycle City kit.

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:
Canal house fronts for the Bicycle City kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Bicycle City kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Streets made for bikes. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: brick red lanes #c32222, canal green #3a883a, bright bike colours #b39d80, cream #f1e7d0, brick red lanes dark #821717, canal green dark #235223, brick red lanes light #db5757, canal green light #5db15d, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `bikeColours` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Bike colours" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size at the defaults: 13.9 m wide (x) × 8.7 m deep (z) × 16.75 m tall (to the top of the neck gable's pediment). The three houses are 4.6 m, 4.0 m and 5.2 m wide and 6 m deep, with a 3.4 m raised ground storey and 2.8 m upper storeys. The 2.4 m pavement in front is 0.12 m thick. The origin is at the bottom centre and the model rests on y = 0. The GLB has 5,828 triangles in 29 meshes, one mesh per part and colour. It is static and carries no animation clip. Normals are baked flat (non-indexed). Every material is named exactly after the kit palette colour it uses. 10 of the 12 colours appear at the defaults: canal green is unused, and brick red lanes light appears only when bikeColours is above 0.75. bikeColours (the kit's 'Bike colours') paints the parked bike frames: all soot black below 0.25, bright bike colours / canal green light / cream up to 0.75, and brick red lanes light / canal green light / cream above that. houseCount (2–4) adds houses in the cycle step, neck, bell, then a painted green cornice front. storeys (3–5) sets the floor count. bikesParked (0–3) sets the number of bikes. Each roof ridge runs front-to-back and its pitch is solved so it stays inside the gable outline. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults. They change the geometry only when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. Three-check passed at the defaults and at 4 houses × 5 storeys × 3 bikes (about 8,450 model triangles) and at 2 × 3 × 0. glb-lint: 0 errors. Its verdict reads UNVERIFIED only because no requirements contract was supplied. The 5 warnings are heuristics and all expected: material count (29 mesh materials, 10 unique names), duplicate material names, non-indexed flat shading, overlapping sibling boxes (merged per-part meshes nest on the facade), and a height of 16.75 m against a 1 m reference. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen. The same plan passes with the slug de-hyphenated. three-check and the GLB keep all 9 ids. Two fix rounds: (1) windows and a plinth band on the exposed end walls, plus a wider hero framing; (2) bikes staggered in depth so neighbouring bikes never touch at 4 houses.
About the Canal house fronts 3D model
Canal house fronts is a free low-poly 3D model from the Bicycle City set. It measures 14 m × 17 m × 8.7 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 5,828 triangles across 29 meshes, with 9 named parts. Download the 434 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.
- Is the Canal house fronts 3D model free for commercial use?
- Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
- What file format is it, and how big is it?
- A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 434 KB: 5,828 triangles, 17,484 vertices and 29 materials, modelled in metres at 14 m × 17 m × 8.7 m.
- Can I animate Canal house fronts?
- It ships as a static mesh. Its 9 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
- Which engines and tools can open it?
- Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
- How was the Canal house fronts 3D model made?
- Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
